Re: My 1963 Carryall photos. Honest opinions wanted!

Well.....almost everyone's comments were quite useful. I actually see both sides, hence the reason I posted it up for debate in the first place.

I do dig the wheels, but I'm not totally sure I dig them on my truck. I'd hate to ruin them by painting them and then not be able to sell them. (keep in mind that I only paid $150 for the set)

I also don't want to spend a grand on wheels and tires to make it look "just right". I think that if these will fit I'll find some good used tires and roll them until I decide I hate them or find something better. Regardless I know I won't be able to use the stock wheels I currently have with the disc brake setup about to go in.

I do wonder about the backspacing comments. Honestly it seems hard to believe that they are further backspaced than the originals. There's tons of room between the fender and the stock setup currently and by my tape measure these wheels are 8.5" wide and have around a 4" backspace. This seems about right for my truck. I guess we'll see when I mock them up ON the truck vs. just sitting next to it.

DWC: I've seen pics of your carryall. I love that damn thing. Can you tell me exactly how you got that drop. It looks amazing. Let's chat.

Thanks to everyone. I'll post more pics when I install either these or other new wheels.

Patina: (pat:tina) Original layers of gloss paint worn to expose a layer of primer worn to the point a layer of surface rust is created.

My 2cents, I say either tone them down or put steel rims on. I think it will look like you have a new truck and just needed to find a place for your new stock rims. Either paint them or get black painted steel. But it's yours, do with it what makes you happy. You're the only one who needs to be happy with your rig.
