Re: My Highschool Project truck a 1969 GMC C20 (Old Blue)
I'll tell ya what really stinks, i wish i would have come across your post a month ago cause i scrapped out a good longbox frame the first part of september. I live just ten miles east of ya, and we got a 69 chevy that oddly enough i bought from the high school autoshop when i was a junior.

Crap lol that would have been great. But now I'm in a really tight spot now and I am looking to trade off my quad for some sort of truck.

Re: My Highschool Project truck a 1969 GMC C20 (Old Blue)
Sorry it's been awhile since Ive had any free time. But for an update I've got it to lock, had to replace the heater core, and added a toolbox in the back. And I gotta say I love it. I'm pretty surprised on how many comment I get on it everywhere.

I'm not really either. I have a 69 chevy grille that I'm thinking about throwing in. Unless I just get a different truck.

Re: My Highschool Project truck a 1969 GMC C20 (Old Blue)
I haven't really decided on a color and I would like to drop it a bit but i cant find anyone who makes a kit.
I wish there were more kids at my school that drove these trucks but I dont think there are any at all. |

Re: My Highschool Project truck a 1969 GMC C20 (Old Blue)
Ive been bored lately so I was tinkering around with the truck and finally put in a collecter gasket that was needed.
I thought i could hear a some sort of knock in the drivers side of the block. Or maybe I was just paranoid. Last edited by Wideopenracing15; 11-09-2009 at 05:43 PM. |

Re: My Highschool Project truck a 1969 GMC C20 (Old Blue)
hey nice truck ive got a 1972 gmc c20 with a 292i6 4spd manual and 4.56 gears try www.westernchassis.com they have front drop spindles to lower it 2.5in, do u have coil or leaf rear suspension? i only saw rear lowering kits for a rear leaf suspension set up. if u dont id go to your autoparts store ask to see a 69 rear coil spring and measure the dia. if their the same maybe u can use 1/2ton lowering coils to lower your rear might improve ride quality also check out lmctruck.com they have that floor patch u need by the drivers door and they have new door locks about 12-16$ do u know if your axles are stock? because those are newer 2000-2007 rims but i thought the old axles were fully floating and wouldnt fit those rims that might mess up your lowering kits too if their different because it may have different suspension, just wondering good luck!

Re: My Highschool Project truck a 1969 GMC C20 (Old Blue)
Welcome to the best truck forums! I did end up getting new locks. My axles are stock and its a full floating dana 60. Its a leaf springer rear and i really dont like it lol Id like a smoother and lower ride. As far as the cab i think Im going to run it untill it falls off, I have a pretty good 72 cab thats just waiting for a frame to ride on.

if its leaf then that company has the lowering kit for your truck, those rims actually look at on that truck.

Re: My Highschool Project truck a 1969 GMC C20 (Old Blue)
the 4 small bottom ones are ampmeter, temp, a blankone, then oil pressure the three across top are left to right speedometer , blank(soon to be tach if i can make one fit and look stock) the last is the fuel gauge.
