If I could find the time I would look it over for you. Sterling is about 40 min to 1hr for me depending on how far out. Also I would go in the 12k range. There was a beautiful blazer in Fredricksburg that was on Craigslist with that one. It wasn't as original I don't think. But very comparable to VTs old Green Blazer and it was 11k -12k on ebay and he was asking 14k
Thanks for the help. I am going to meet him 1/2 way tomorrow. He sent more pictures and it looks solid as a rock. I am thinking on removing the tanks, adding the torsion boxes and eventually filling in the tank openings in the side. I could then add top side moldings and paint between the moldings white. I would not have to paint the whole truck and the two tone would look good with the highlander seats and panels. Thanks, Bubba

Bring a camera and keep us informed. Good luck and don't pay more than you think it is worth!

Re: More photos, need advice....

I came to this conversation pretty late but I have seen the boxes removed for saddle tanks once or twice before. I thought it was stupid when I saw it previously but as others have said its easy to remedy as long as the top hasn't been removed. I'm pretty sure that the boxes are made aftermarket now.

Sorry for the lack of updates.......Well I bought it! We come up with a price we were both happy with. The truck is as solid as any I have ever seen. It was from New Mexico and the tanks were installed when new. Still had the stickers from the company that installed them in New Mexico years ago. I went on vacation and am just now getting back on it. I have the parts and am going to try to get them installed this week!! Here is a video I made after dropping trhe tanks.

I don't think so. Here is another video it shows better where the boxes once connected better. In the video I show the right side core support and fender. It also show the only real rust I have found, The battery box, which is really not bad. Bubba

Did the torsion boxes have to be removed for the saddle tanks? I can't remember. I had a '72 Jimmy with saddle tanks about 5 or 6 years ago, had the double wall top off, and don't remember having problems with the doors, even after putting the top back on!

Yes they were removed for the tanks in 1972. The doors shut good on mine and the lines and gaps look good. I think this is because of the truck being so solid. But I am installing the boxes before pulling the top.
