Even if your cigarette lighter doesn't work you could always run a piece of wire direct from the battery to power it.
Through a fuse of course if you go the direct to battery route.

As ar as the heat goes...fix it.You need the defroster even if you can dress to kill the chill. It`s a matter of safety, not comfort. If you have air you should have heat.Either your thermostat is out or stuck open, crazy high temp t-stat,or worst case your heater core is clugged yet doesn`t leak.Did you feel both heater hoses to see I they both are hot?All engines "make" heat,it`s in there.Ya just have to get it to your fan.Just a line in,the core, and a line out.I it ain`t comin`out? There ya go,you need a core.
Its a 1972 , yeah I am 99% sure its the heater core but i was told one had to remove the fender to replace it and well its below 0 out and im not going to all that trouble with a hooded sweater lol.

I got a brand new Miledon 180% thermestate and watching my temp gage i can see it kicks in at that temp but no heat so guessing plugged core.
Have an ok volume of air flow so yeah core im betting and its an non AC truck.

Re: A Long Cold Winter C-10 Style.

I once used a blow dryer that I ran through an inverter for a heater and defroster, it was noisy as hell but it worked great for defrosting the windshield! It would even raise the interior temp a few degrees. Most the time I would aim it at what ever body part was coldest.
I HATE winter, I have to do all the work on my truck outside, even when it's -12 F. I bought a house with no garage (dumb)
Summer is getting closer every day!
