I don't have photoshop but I do have diecast
Here is a pic of a grey 81-87 with black tonneau and black hood, maybe it'll give you some inspiration....

Re: Bigblocks '77 truck
SBTorkGet a close up of the blue one with whitewalls behind it too.
Not to get off topic, but where size are those, and where did you find them? Jeff I thought the rake was good until I saw the side shot. I agree bring the back down a bit, and it will be perfect. Last edited by JohnC; 10-11-2009 at 04:34 PM. |

Re: Bigblocks '77 truck
Few more pics.
As I mentioned before, I will be running a pastel blue lower half, and a white roof. The cab I will be using did come with the cab trim, but it was shot. I was able to piece together the three-piece set from a local wrecking yard...I was real surprised I found these parts in such nice condition and for such a good price. They just need a good cleaning/detailing/polishing. I also purchased a NOS Cheyenne band from Special-K here on the board, it too is super nice, just needs a cleaning/detailing. It will go on the correct 70's gate I have sitting here.

Re: Bigblocks '77 truck
I like the idea of the black hood, but I think top of the cab would tie it all together. I know that's not what you are going for Jeff. I think the black hood would look good until it gets painted though.
Those trim pieces are in really good shape. Nice score. |

Re: Bigblocks '77 truck
Looks good Jeff! I'm not much for the lowrider thing myself but it looks good to me as you have it. If you are going to haul stuff you don't want the rear so low you will bottom out or rub when you are hauling a load.

Re: Bigblocks '77 truck
the black hood looks good you might want to try to get the colour near the tonaucover or tan that nearer to black
the whitewalls might not be needed if you paint a small white pinstripe on the edge of the rim

Re: Bigblocks '77 truck
Nice truck Jeff! I like what you have done with it so far. I also think that a white stripe around the wheels would look better than whitewall tires. I never have been a fan of whitewalls myself. Maybe it's because I'm more of a 4x4 guy, and I don't even like white letter tires on my 4x4s either. I always have the white letters turned in if the tires that I buy have them.
Can't wait to see the cab swap! Looks like you've got a clean cab to go on it. It will make a really nice solid driver when you get done with it. Funny how these projects snowball when you get started on them isn't it? You are as bad as I am! Lots of projects going on! I have my 86 K10, 81 Z28 Camaro, and my house all at the same time, so I can relate! ...Joe

Cool truck for daily use Jeff!
I love that "dare to be square" sticker! Can you get some for your fellow truckers? Volker

I'm convinced it takes more effort to keep one simple, and not snowball into something bigger. I mean take a look at his other truck.

Re: Bigblocks '77 truck
any chance of some close up pics of your new suspension set up?
..I just picked up a 79/80 gmc street coupe, does anybody know if this 77 C10 is essentially the same truck, when it comes to the chassis and suspension? I love the stance of your 77' after the drop and would hope to replicate it. heres a quick photo of what i'm working with.. As you can see.. I've got a looong ways to go. |

Re: Bigblocks '77 truck
1/2 ton trucks from 73-87 should all essentially be the same when it comes to suspension as long as it's 2wd

Re: Bigblocks '77 truck
No updates on the truck fellas. I had twin boys recently, and am trying to finish up my 73 finally.
The 77 is my work truck, and sees weekly use...with the last round being a sheetrock hauler...LoL. Although the truck sits nice, the front is too low and bottoms out/rubs frequently. If I could go back (and I likely will), the front will get 2" drop coils to replace the cut coils (about 3"), and the back will come down two inches via shackles, which will require me to install the c-notch. As of right now, the back does not bottom out at all, despite hauiling several hundered pounds of sheetrock and no notch. JohnC, you are right about keeping them simple...believe me! I am trying real hard not to make this truck too nice...but do have the parts to do so, if and when I wish to. Thanks for all the kind words guys, means a lot!

Enlighten me on the conversion lug nuts and the size of the backspacers you are using. I am going to run 90' Silverado steelies on my truck. I am at the point where I am just going to paint them and test fit them on the truck. Thanks, Mike

Re: Bigblocks '77 truck
1/2 20 conversion lugs, you can get them off eBay for pretty cheap...just type in "conversion lug nuts" in your search and browse the listings. Same for the covers, just type in "lug nut covers" or caps.
I got my spacers from a seller named cjbargains, or something like that. $59 per pair, and they are nice! I currently have 1" on front, 1.5" on back. I am going to try and find a 1/4" spacer for the front, as I think that is all I need for the rim to clear the hub, which has a slight taper and doesn't let the wheel slide on all the way, because the wheel center is squared off kind of...versus round like our generation of Rally.
