Re: "New" '78 LWB
Well, as long as you don't use a piece of plywood for a hood.

Re: "New" '78 LWB
I like it!
You should lower it a bit and leave the exterior alone.....

Re: "New" '78 LWB
get a can of pb blaster and go to town on the hinges. just work them back and forth let it soak and keep going with it till they work smooth. then clean it up and use a stickier longer lasting grease or lube. that hood was ruined in the first place bc some jerk couldnt squirt some lube on the hinges. I would bet money they will work fine with some lube

Re: "New" '78 LWB
The hingles are badly bent because the PO was to lazy to put some lube on the hinges and just kept pullin' and yankin' on the hood instead.

Re: "New" '78 LWB
Well, I changed the trans fluid and filter this morning. I drove the truck 60 miles without issue at all. It is tight, charging, and lubricating.
Now someone buy it |

Re: "New" '78 LWB
Here are some pics of Blue with the hood on 'im. I even washed him and vacuumed out the inside, and cleaned out the bed. If it was all one color, it would make for a nice lookin' truck.
I have put over 150 miles on it and no issues... |

Re: "New" '78 LWB
Offer to sell it back to the guy you got it from. I have sold more than one vehicle that way. Many times people regret having sold a vehicle so they jump at the chance to get it back.

Re: "New" '78 LWB
I still have Ole Blue, but haven't really pushed to sell it yet. He runs really good and is great for fetching work materials and such. I may have to jack up the price .

Re: "New" '78 LWB
You have better oil pressure than I do with only 71k on mine. With the 5.13 gearing my truck has had since it was a year old the bearings in mine have seen probably the equivalent of 200k of wear & tear though.

Re: "New" '78 LWB
I just took Ole Blue to Lowes and loaded it up with 2300 pounds of tile and related materials (not including my 225 pounds self or my fiance and the small related pieces/parts in the cab) and it drove me home with no issues. I may just have to keep this one
Here's a pic of it loaded down. |

Re: "New" '78 LWB
Just got the title back, and it says it's a '77 not a '78. 10th digit of the VIN is an 8 though. Does that mean it's a late '77 or an early '78?

Re: "New" '78 LWB
I would think about tranny fluid and filter change, low cost and could only help. you never know how old the fluid is

Re: "New" '78 LWB
After seeing this Ive decided, I am 100% going to look for a southern truck. You cant find trucks like that in ontario. I want a truck like that for my wife and any squarebodys in ontario are either rotted beyond repair or very expensive. What does a truck like that sell for where you live?
mine was built in 96 and only driven for 5 years on the road with only 1 winter and there is a hole in the left cab corner. Canadian winters are hard on sheetmetal. |

Re: "New" '78 LWB
Thanks all. The new owner has already called me to let me know that he made the 121 mile drive home without any issues. I should have asked for more money
