Re: Slot lovers unite!
I personally dont think slots make your truck look old. I think a nice set of polished slots is timeless. Now if you dont take care of em and they get all filthy and rashed up, yeah they look like crap.
There are a ton of wheels out there much newer than slots that make a vehicle look dated. |

Re: Slot lovers unite!
Yeah, they`re dated, it`s called "Classic", as in better than what is offered now and still just as good as ever. Slots don`t make these trucks look old, these trucks look old because they are old and slots look right at home. The only wheels that look dated will be all these "Look at how big mine are", "Look, they found a new shape to cut", and "Don`t look at his, look at me first" wheels. These are classic because they were just custom wheels,as in not stock, and made to be lighter while giving a sport look. That`s what they did and still do. You either got wheels made from 5 spokes (or 5-lugs) to fill between the hub and rim or a solid disc with large slots... light, strong, and attractive... everything you want without gawdy flash to date them. They look right on everything from an Austin Healey Sprite to a 1t van including everything in between.
Many folks are all caught up in the trendy wheels and the vehicle is just another canvas to mount them on. If they don`t see the wheels they like (this week) they just move on looking for "rimz". Kinda like when I eat. Food is just something to put sauces on. I love my sauces.

Love slots on 67-72... I'm looking for a set 15x7 and 15x8 with a 5x5 bolt pattern... (I know that's a tall order)

Re: Slot lovers unite!
There where only two styles of custom wheels "back in the day" that tripped my trigger; Slots and Torque-Thrust D's.
They will never go out of style. When you're cleaning up a set of old slots what do you do with a really rough bead seat?

Re: Slot lovers unite!
meangreen68 Here is a pic of my slots. Sand paper and a power ball I think they may be the same as yours. Can you give me the part number off the back? I have tried to figure out who made them, but I never thought they could be jeep wheels. If they are jeep wheels, does anyone know where I can find caps that use the three little bolts to hold them on.

I'm almost certain that those are the factory jeep wheels. I'll look for the part# when I get home tonight. The caps are hard to find in good shape, but, I might be able to get you a set. They are on another set of jeep wheels. They are not slots, they have about 10 or so round holes the size of a quarter. But I believe the caps are basically the same. If a person painted the ends, or put a chevy sticker on the caps, they wouldn't look bad. I'f your intrested I'll check on'em and drop you a pm. Thanks for the pics and post another when you get'em on the truck.

Re: Slot lovers unite!
I have a set (2) of 15 x 7, 5 lug pattern slots. Here is a link to a WIW: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=364889
It would be nice to get some input, as I want to sell these down the road when I get my truck ready to roll.

Re: Slot lovers unite!
Here are pictures of my 15x8.5 5 lug slots. I found center caps at my local tire shop. He took the measurements and was able to order them in.
I found a pair of 16.5x8 and 16.5x10 5x5 lug slots at swap meet once and almost bought them by accident. Good think I looked on the back to see what size they were. Just think what buying tires for that would be like. |

Re: Slot lovers unite!
As Rene documents the slots are a natural for our trucks. I had a set of ET IV polished slots on my first truck. 15x8 &10 Great looks.

Re: Slot lovers unite!
Hey Rene! Oh magawd, all those trucks are like soooo dated. And it`s like that`s why they are so hip and all awesome and stuff. Right?
I call it era correct... better known as stone solid classic good looks. Slots did wonders for an old Camper hauler. I do know dat: They look good near the Colorado/New Mexico line... They look good on Edisto Island,SC... They look good in PA Dutch country... They looked good dirty on the Ocracoke Island ferry in NC... They looked pretty good on my shortbed in the grocery store lot in Page,AZ... These are all older pictures from 20 or more years ago and they`d look just as good today. You can`t 'date" timeless.

Special K that edisto Island pic looks like it came from a vintage brochure promoting state parks. I love it. Timeless is right. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
