Great quote...

Re: Tipping rules for Auto delivery

I always tip drivers for me. My truck has been towed twice, gave both drivers a 20. They only went -50 miles. And it was AAA.

Re: Tipping rules for Auto delivery

The truck got delivered last week, a '99 Suburban 2500. The guy met me in a Home Depot parking lot with a huge Kenworth pulling the multi-layered car hauler with all the crazy cantilevered ramps, hydraulics and other types of levers and platforms that will eat limbs.

The driver was Russian, or eastern-european, and very cordial. He nodded and smiled a lot, and even offered to 'trade' me the Bentley that was on the top row of the hauler. He had to climb in through the back doors to get into the 'burb, and had a really hard time getting it off the trailer. There was only about 4 inches on either side of the tires, and they kept rubbing the side of the trailer and binding up. I tried to help guide the guy off the trailer, but it was dark, and I'm not sure he understood all my gyrations and jumping around. So my daughters pulled me away, told me it was never going to be my turn, and to just close my eyes and it would be all over soon.

And it was.

After scanning the Suburban for stow-a-way hippies and what-not, I slipped the guy $50 and shook his hand. He seemed very surprised and grateful and went on his way.

Later on my way home I had to put nearly $100 worth of gas in the new beast, and realized all of this might have been a bad idea, and maybe I should have just put some helper springs on the Subaru...

Thanks again for all the replies.

Shawn

As the owner of a suburban 2500, the ONLY time you will regret it is at the gas station. My wife loves it, it is used for all family trips, and can haul people, gear, and a trailer. What else do you need?

I don`t tip owners, only employees.Owners make more than a wage and they should always give good service to protect their business.

What engine and gear are you running in your suburban? I'm trying to figure out what to expect for mileage.

Mine has the 454 with I believe the 4.11 gears.

I'm still working out small bugs with the truck and have only driven it a couple hundred miles. First order is to get new carpet for it and remove the 'wet donkey' smell that I've been enjoying.
