Re: Your favorite thing about a 60-66?
I have to admit I like the Muscle look of my wife's 64,she says it's got a cute but! she might of picked that up from me. I also like the ease of working on it the parts are available and moderatly priced.

Re: Your favorite thing about a 60-66?
to me it is definitely the body design.most unique ever built.from the roof top to the hood and front fenders.i think that the 1960-66 trucks are the best looking design ever made and the 1988-98 short bed regular cab are a close second to me.i have owned 8 64-66 trucks over the years and first fell in love with them when my dad bought a 64 short fleet in the late 70's when i was a wee little lad.

Re: Your favorite thing about a 60-66?
I love the overall body design and the rugged all steel interior. I really like the two hump dash in the 60-63 models. I also like that the headlights are mounted super low to the ground when compared to most trucks.

i really like the wrap around windshields of the 60-63, and the early 4 headlight grills as well as the lines in the roof, and tiny back window

jchav62: IMO, you did everything right on the yellow truck. That's one sharp truck!!!! I'd like to have one like it in my driveway.

Actually, my favorite thing is the body style, especially 60-63 with the wrap around windshield and the forward leaning a-pillars. The 64-66's are also very sexy in my opinion, just a little more 'modern' feel to them, where as the earlier models still have a taste of the 50's.

Re: Your favorite thing about a 60-66?
It was mentioned several times of how accessible the engine is and how much room there is under the hood. I LIKE THAT TOO!
The other thing I love about the truck is the cab and interior. I have a bench seat and a unmolested original dash. When I'm driving the truck it's almost as if I've climbed into a time machine. The look and feel of owning and driving the truck is what I like the most.

Re: Your favorite thing about a 60-66?
I too love the hood and not having to reach over tall fenders like the newer trucks. I also think the roof line is the most interesting of all GM trucks. Most of all I love it because my Dad bought it for me back in '73 (when my son was born) so I had a second vehicle.

Re: Your favorite thing about a 60-66?
It's what I grew up on and learned to drive on from pops. I also tore another down and rebuilt it with some high school friends. I learned a lot about mechanical work and heartbreak while rebuilding it, only to have it stolen from the racetrack the night we got it running.

Re: Your favorite thing about a 60-66?
i love the look of the big back windows on these trucks, especially when your driving directly behind one. makes it look like the drivers in a gunners pod! no blind spots to worry about
i love the hight of the stock bench seat too. you sit a bit higher in the cab than on the 67-72's which gives you more leg room....standing at 6.2" i need every inch of that i can get........ |

Re: Your favorite thing about a 60-66?
For me it's more of a sentimental attatchment than anything. When I was a kid my Dad had a '65, my Grandpa still owns his '63 he bought brand new, and my Uncle still drives his '66 daily. Needless to say I spent a lot of time around this type of truck growing up, I guess it left a bit of an impression on me. Styling wise I prefer the earlier cabs with the wrap around window, and double hump dash, and I always thought the concave bodylines of a fleetside were neat. I also appreciate the engine compartment room, and parts availability. I'm afraid my true feelings may get me kicked off the board though. In my opinion, I think this is one of Chevy's worst designs, and I much prefer earlier models, especially the '55-'59. The grill/headlights, and tailights look like they were an afterthought, and a lot of the design lacks real flow. Having said that though, I wouldn't trade my truck for anything, and truly enjoy driving it daily. I just love driving old cars of any make, and this truck is like my own personal sentimental time machine.

Re: Your favorite thing about a 60-66?
my dad used to have one. He had alot of trucks. moslty 75-77 fords. They would usualy break or wear out, but the 66 chevy just kept going. He finally got rid of it when the seat was about to fall through the floor. Now i got one, a 65 pretty much identical except for the year and engine.
