Re: 1949 3600 build
I plan on a MII manual rack. Been sick and busy with work most of January. Hope Feb will be better for work. I have found that I am going to notch the bottom of the frame to raise the unit (lower the truck).
Some parts came from my brother, the cab, frame & box are old ND farm truck from a friend near Canada. Last edited by T Hilde; 01-31-2010 at 10:58 PM. |

Re: 1949 3600 build
Wow, been real lazy about updating this. Crossmember is welded in and motor mounts have been made.
I even modified the 292 valve cover to a Cadillac motor. |

Re: 1949 3600 build
Any updates on this? I've got an email in to Scott Danforth for some info and pricing. This looks like a good fit for my project.

Not yet, I have a friend interested in the chassis. There is some head scratching going on with it yet.

Re: 1949 3600 build
What kind of 5 speed is that? At first I was thinking NV3500, but yours looks different somehow. Also, how did you handle the clutch linkage, which I assume needs to be hydraulic?

Re: 1949 3600 build
The generation before the NV3500, from a full size Chevy. It is a hydraulic clutch but haven't worked on that part yet.

Thank you for explaining about the tranny. Btw, your valve cover is a real eyeball grabber.

Re: 1949 3600 build
You have a friend interested in the chassis? Are you selling it? Head scrathing? Is the the ride higth not low enough when using this cross member? I am considering this front end but I will be using air ride and want to be able to drop the air out and put the running boards almost on the ground. I wonder if the wheel stance or width is wider then using a MII. Thanks!

Re: 1949 3600 build
Any updates on your truck, is it on the road yet?
Is Scott Danforth in full production yet, as I have some questions on his front end

Re: 1949 3600 build
I bailed on this chassis. It irritated me. I swapped it on to a dakota chassis. I have a lot of questions on it too. You have to notch the frame for the upper control arm, if you don't want a huge notch you need tubular A arms and still notch it. The steering isn't sorted out on it yet. The one I know of that hit the road has a turning circle like a large truck. Bottom line, I wished I never bought it.
