Re: 12 bolt on craigslist

The 67-72 4wd trucks had rear leafs, could be out of one of those. Only the 2wd trucks had the coil springs.

that is a 2WD coil sprung rear end. The long trailing arms hook to those perches w/ U-bolts and the panhard bar (shown) centered the axle in the frame. I used one of those in my 4WD though, simply torch the perches off and weld on new leaf perches to the top.

thanks a bundle it is starting to make sense now. can i cut the perches from my leaf sprung 12 bolt and weld them to the coil sprung rear or will the slight difference is shape/size throw it off. i am going with a flip kit in the rear so should i just buy the flip kit and just weld the "flip bracket" to the bottom of the rear end housing?

thanks in advance for everyones help.

Re: 12 bolt on craigslist

not sure what the flip kit consists of but once you cut perches off, they are usually useless... I purchased a new set from summit racing pretty cheap, you might be able to go straight to the flip kit, most 2WD guys drop the leafs completly and run 4-link with airbags, coilovers or some other newer setup with tubular trailing arms and dropped crossmembers....
