Re: Custom Models

here's a few of mine with a lot of scratch building and Kit Bashing

I wish I had a pic of the 55 in the corner of the last pic, it has a compleatly scratch built 4 link rear and tubular a-arm front suspention with rubber washers as airbags and the rest of the suspention being made of stireene tubes and sheet, brass rod and brass bolts (for the threaded components) it was one of my favorite builds just wish I would have shot pics of it befor I gave it away

Re: Custom Models

beleive it or not that a a quick build, it wa for a contest on another forum, we had one month to build a custom truck, i bashed alot of kits to build tht one! (2010 camaro, 1999 chevy, zr corvette,) and custom made the hood, bag lines (actual aluminum) the airtank and compressor, lots of little things, its not as clean as i would like cause i had to rush it, but i plan on redoing it sometime

Re: Custom Models

Wow just a month? That would take me years. I see on your models that you built custom frames, what do you use to build the frame, and how do you actually fasten the body to it? Do you have to build mounts on the frame?

yea, the crew cab truck, and the chopped have been under construction for a year or so, not always working on them, but a little here and there, those two i want perfect, and i use styrene square stock, should be available at many hobby shops, it comes in angle, square, rectangle, tube, on most bodys i just use a litlle L bracket made from tube stock to fasten beds on (pic included) and for the bodys i just glue the interior tub to the body, then glue the tub to the frame

alright, makes sense. And to mold the pieces together you melt them, correct?

at first yes, i used a pencil torch and melted everything, til i discovered CA, its a SUPER SUPER glue, whichcan also be used with an accelerator, it works amazing, it is sold in 3 levels of viscosity, the thickest one is good for holding the parts, and filling gaps and such, its what i usde for the cab on that crew cab truck

Where did you get the Kicker subs from? I need 3 for a build that I've been planning for a couple weeks now.
