Re: Poll time...where did you find your truck?

I aquired mine from a neighbor that moved it out of the shed because it didn't run and he needed the space. Put a battery in and new plugs and wires along with a fuel filter and a case of beer and drove it out of my shop the next day. He asks everytime I see him when I'm going to take him for a ride." Hope he lives that long". His exact quote Saturday.

Re: Poll time...where did you find your truck?

I found a 68 SWB 4x4 chassis on craigslist in Bridgewater MA. Drove up there and it was a complete chassis with powertrain. Only the body was removed. That was 1 year ago. This summer I found the donor body and engine (1970 SWB 2WD) on craigslist as well in Woonsocket RI. I've got a long way to go, but these trucks are fun as hell!

Re: Poll time...where did you find your truck?

Found mine at truck Carlisle in 2007. I wasn't looking to buy....just look. I know, everything is overpriced, but I believe I got a deal on an unmolested, all original, 61k mile truck.

craigslist for me too. Trailered her home about 40 miles. Just got her running about a week ago, still getting the truck ready to drive. Paid $600 for my rust bucket, but it's hard to find them around here.

Re: Poll time...where did you find your truck?

I was given my 68 GMC by the daughter of the original owner It pays to be persistent, I asked about the truck for about 10 years but was always told it was not for sale ! Well one day I got a call from the daughter to inform me that they where moving out of state and if I still wanted the pickup come and get it I did not know what to say, but thanks and that I would take good care of it. It only has 66K original miles and is a stripper, no nothing no radio, no heater, no lighter no nothing. I did replace the 250 with a built 292 what a difference in power.
PS: I did try to sell it about a dozen times when I found a 71 C-20 with only 56K on it, but no luck. No one wanted to pay the $2000.00 I wanted for it so I quess I am just stuck with it. My wife said I would regret selling it any way !
Hope everyone has a safe Holiday Season

Re: Poll time...where did you find your truck?

saw my 67 sitting in a yard for sale, when I asked about it I found out the po had pawned the title for 300 dollars and was about to lose it. I haggled him down from 700 to 500 and we went to the pawn shop and he signed it over right then and there.
My 49 GMC. My neighbor actually knew about it and knew the owner was about to lose his property to the city for having too much trash in it. So I talk the owner into letting me pick it up fro 275.00!!!! but I had to get it out. It was rocker panal deep in cement rubble and beer cans and bottles, a treehouse was leaning against it and I had to tear down a section of fence!! but well worth it

Re: Poll time...where did you find your truck?

When I sold my Chevelle, I told my wife " I am Done With these old cars, Aint buyin no more " That lasted 30 days, and I found my 69 on Ebay. It was in Bristol Tn. MY mother in law lives about 30 miles from where I bought it. I told the PO that I would like to be able to walk away from an Ebay deal if I was unhappy. We agreed, and I asked my wife if i could ride to her moms with her, as she was going to let me have the remote control for a week. She then needed to know why, and I told her. Got the look. I know you guys know what I mean. I then had to ask her if she would go to the bank and get me some of my Chevelle money. I was immediately told me that that money was in HER bank account??? We went to her moms with a brown paper bag, and I drove my truck 550 miles the next day. Manual steering box the was worn out, no radio, manual brakes, 3 on the tree. One of the best days of my life. I love my truck!

Re: Poll time...where did you find your truck?

I was out at Pomona trying to sell my '67 Cadillac. I was sleeping on the ground behind the car, and this guy in what would soon be my truck, backed in almost over my head. It had 97,000 miles on it, every nut and bolt was original, as was the paint and interior.

I bought it for $3K, dropped about $20K into it over 6-7 years, and just recently sold it to a guy that shipped it to GERMANY so his buddy could mount TV's in the back and drive around advertising the local hookers!! (no joke!... well, there are about 100 jokes to be had, but that is the truth!)

Re: Poll time...where did you find your truck?

I found mine on Craigs List with in a couple of days.

I have only had it a couple of weeks.

Oh, I think Craigs list should be one of the poll checks.

Re: Poll time...where did you find your truck?

I found mine on the side of the road behind an old mechanics shop close to my hometown. I have driven by the shop all my life, but the Blazer had only been there for about 10 years when I got it back in 2006. It was in rough shape but fairly complete. Here is a pic of where it sat 3 years ago when I bought it.

I found mine on this site in the for sale section. Now all it needs is an air ride set-up.

Wink Re: Poll time...where did you find your truck?

Bought my '67 last Dec. '08 off Craigslist

And this is what it looks like below while on the lot.

Filled up the gas tank and drove it home. Later found out the gas tank was leaking so there goes all that expensive gas!
