Re: Door Speaker Options
Ya I've seen those factory setups before. That's nothing even close to what I'm talking about though.

Re: Door Speaker Options
What are you talking about then? There were no other options for blazer speakers. You either got the setup like yours with one mono speaker in the dash, or you got one mono speaker under the dash. There are no optional better speaker setups. AM/FM took the same mono speaker as the AM radios. Blazers never came from the factory with rear speakers or stereo speakers for that matter unless possibly for the optional 8 track player which was stereo setup. No one knows what the speaker setup looks like with a 8 track player that was dealer installed. Some speculate that there might have been 2 underdash blazer speakers set up under the dash for the 8 track but no one in all of the 9 years of being on this board, has there ever been anyone have a documented 8 track setup with original speaker setup in their truck/burb/blazer. That is why though I have found my blazer underdash speakers so that I could put an original dealer accessory 8 track player in my 71'.

You answered your question in your 3rd sentence. I have the single speaker inside the dash, which I removed and mounted a pair of small rectangular speakers under there, hidden from view. Stating that would be a nice option for those not wanting to cut their doors up. I was just surprised when I saw a picture of another blazer that didn't have the grille work in the metal dash for it. Of course that changes things. |

Re: Door Speaker Options
I see, I wasn't trying to be rude with my last statement, though after rereading the paragraph, it somewhat came out that way. Just trying to help, as it sounded as though you thought there was some kind of special speaker package. I don't know why the one member's CST came with a dash speaker but no speaker hole in the dash. I suppose it was one of those things that if you were on the assembly line and your duty was to install a speaker, and your shift was about done or you had done it so many times, you just went ahead and put one in there. Ya that's kinda what I was thinking. I've had 5-6 of these blazers over the years and they have always had that grille stamped into the center of the metal dash. So it was a bit strange to not see it at all in that previous picture from Scoyote. Probably alot like the muscle cars I restore. You see different things on the same models, with various assembly plants it's hard telling what was going on that day. |

Re: Door Speaker Options
Mine doesn't have the speaker cutout. But I did have a speaker mounted up under the dash, not hanging below like the speaker above. I'll have to see if I can find a picture.

Re: Door Speaker Options
That's where my speaker was mounted in mine. I have since removed it, as I will going going with the "Sounds of Nature" stereo system for a while in mine, until I can put together a decent system.
