Re: 72 Jimmy 4x4 transfer case troubles
Ok to clarify it is the front shaft. I remove it(@#$%@#) took a while but here it is. Looks like i am going to need a new H-Joint or CV joint what ever its called. The inner pieces are pretty beat up.

Re: 72 Jimmy 4x4 transfer case troubles
From looking at LMC and the break down of this front shaft, i am going to need the "centering Yoke and Maybe even the weld Yoke. The H- yoke seems to be ok?? Going to have to take it in and have the joints pressed out.
Thanks again for all the help!!! |

Re: 72 Jimmy 4x4 transfer case troubles
not to hard of a fix... so it was turning becuase you have a stuck wheel lockout? Buy a new set of Warn or Milemarker lockouts ($100) and change them too. The front driveshaft shouldn't be turning unless you are in 4 wheel drive.

Re: 72 Jimmy 4x4 transfer case troubles
That was my thought to Mike. Check your front drive train. Like Mike stated, your hubs are locked/sticking or your T-Case was/is lock into 4-high or low. You can still drive the vehicle with front d-shaft out. I just rebuilt my front Drive shaft yesterday. I refered to the link potes in this thread. Good luck... David

Re: 72 Jimmy 4x4 transfer case troubles
I haven't, i removed the front drive line, then my tranny started shifting strange. I traced it to a vacuum line on the shift module. I have to find a new CV joint mine is all messed up. LMC has them so i guess i have to order one from them. Thanks for all the help

Re: 72 Jimmy 4x4 transfer case troubles
Hi Vance, it may be worth posting a WTB ad in the parts section. I've seen some good deals on front shafts there (less than the cost of parts). You could then rebuild yours at your leisure and end up with a spare. Sharpie

Most of the driveline parts can be bought at a regular parts store. You can bring in your damaged ones and compare it with the replacement to be sure of what your getting.
