Re: mexican 69

There is a member from somewhere in South America....I really can't remember where though, or his name either? I feel really bad about that, he is a nice guy....but anyway, he has a step-side version of that "different" bed. I believe he also has a brother with the fleet-side like that one.

Re: mexican 69

thanks for all the kind words! It needs acouple things here and there that have been neglected over the years but overall i love it! some drop spindles will definately help er out! this is my first truck so im very open to suggestions and advice from everybody! so the line in the bed is the difference between a mexican and american truck? is there anything else that i could look for that may be different? it does have the 292 in it which is cool and all but a 396 would be better thanks again everybody!

Oh i found ten peso's in the ash tray! SCORE!

Re: mexican 69

that's the bed I mentioned! I saw one a year or so back on here that was blue. but your is N I C E!! thanks for posting the pic. right mouse click, save! it's totally unique and a HECK of a conversation piece!

I can see it now. you are at a gas pump.....
know-it-all: "Son, you know that bed didn't come from the factory like that".
you: "Yes it did, it was built in Mexico and it's unique only to Central and South America".
know-it-all: Sorry, but I owned several of these truck and that's not the right bed!"
you: Your right, it's a bed from a '69 International Harvester
know-it-all: See, I knew it.
you: Driving off with a smile on your face.......

longhair, that yellow rig looks a lot like it has a 60-66 bed on it. have any more pics?

which leads me to a thought. I wonder if GM sent any of there assembly line overages to Mexico to piece rigs together? would love to know more history on the South of the Border Haulers!!!

Interesting info and pictures in this thread. That's the first picture I have ever seen of a bed like that.

I like how the top dbody line is straight instead of curving downwards. Got me wanting a Mexican bed now and section that into my blazer!

The fuel filler in the side of the bed is cool. I would like to see some pics of how that was done by the factory!

Re: mexican 69

actually from what i was told on another forum is that it did in fact come this way from the factory which i cant verify this at the moment. do you guys think i could look behind the seat on the cab to see if there is any evidence of the hole for the filler neck?
