Re: Thread #2: Early Hauler Pictures...

Nice GMC, I wish I could find a GMC grille for my 46, I really like the looks of it. Hey SPECIAL-K in that picture with the Elcamino, I also noticed a banner in the back ground that says "Welcome to the 11th annual Chevy / GMC truck Nationals" --Where and When is that? How big of a show is it? I think I need to go to that. Thanks, Todd

Nice! I used to have the saying,"Scattered grains are beautiful" in my signature and these years come to mind, especially. It`s a reference to the nitty gritty of metal shaping...shaping is scattering grains of steel.

Oh man, I like this color scheme. I had pretty much decided I did NOT want a two tone unless it was the more modern: One color on the fenders AND body below the belt line and then the other color above it. But this looks so "old school cool" Especially with the contrasting steelies and beauty rings. EXCELLENT!

Anyone know the actual name of that color of green?

Re: Thread #2: Early Hauler Pictures...

I am not real good on 37's or GMC's but my guess is hood, front fenders, grill, grill shell, windshield laid back, door handles removed and hidden door hinges. I like the mirrors also. Very nice truck. What is in it for power?

Sitting on a later frame?Boxed the running board/filler panel around it and louvered above that.

Re: Thread #2: Early Hauler Pictures...

You guys have spotted a lot of stuff, but this is what has been missed at this point.
No louvering has been done that I know of.
The frame is original, however it has been stretched.
Bed has been stretched.
My uncle is a big man so the Cab has been stretched and widened so he and my aunt can sit in the truck confortably to travel around the US pulling a fith wheel trailer behind it.
Nose has been stretched and I believe tilted back a little.
Custom Stainless steel grill inserts.
May other things have been done that can't be seen, like the custom interior, lator model strait front axle (47-55 I believe), front wheel disk brakes, custom dana 44 rear end with custom 4 wheel drive hubs so he can use the dual bearing design to better handle the fith wheel.

The engine (I believe) is a 55, 302 bored to a 310 in-line 6, with hand made headers and hand made aluminum 6 pack intake manifold. (Pumps out 300 ponies)
This truck is a workhorse. If he isn't tinkering on it, he is driving it..lol WES

Re: Thread #2: Early Hauler Pictures...

Very nice truck. I have some questions about the cab. I am stretching the cab on a 1946 Chevy and would like to know more about it. How much was the cab stretched? Was it in the doors? Was the front of the cab widened or just the rear because of the stretched cab? Could I get a straight on side picture? Thanks, Todd

Re: Thread #2: Early Hauler Pictures...

I am sorry, but I don't have any side pictures. It was stretched 4" in the cowl for more leg room and 4" at the doors so that it wouldn't look like a stretched cab when done. The windshield was laid back 4" also however I was mistaked about it being widened. I talked to him and told him I had someone asking questions about it and he said that he would be happy to answer them via email if you like. His email address is: nesscrafters@comcast.net This way he can tell you exactly what he did because I wasn't around for the entire build. WES

Rob,I like those early`30s.Hey Wes,my eyes aren`t so good, but I saw something that I took for louvers in that area.Who knows, maybe a reflection.I just figured louvers. Those body mods take a trained eye.I know that grille was unique.I like the truck.
Dan,sorry,I have another picture to mess your plan up more:

Special-K, Can you post a larger picture of the green/black panel from the rear? It came out tiny and the one from the front came out large earlier. Man, I am liking so many of the pictures I am seeing here. They better make this thread a sticky.
