LEEVON, now that is someserious inspiration, my hat off to that guy, that was simply amazing, see, there is other crazy ppl out there, not just me.LOL. Thank you for that article, that was cool, i read every page. That guy had some serious heart and passion in his car, definetly proud of that one. Congrats to him. Just proves a point, anything can be fixed with determination and a little time and resources.

Got out to the shop this morning, swept it up from last nites mess. I then proceeded to study the car, how bad it actually was. Once i determined, what i was removing, it was time to weld in some bracing. Front to back-side-top. Is not going anywhere and stron, and also not in the way. Once the bracing was in, it was time to bust out the Speacialized tools for some destructive remodeling. I first cut the floor from the skeleton. Once that was done, i determined what pieces from the floor i needed to keep. Then it was cut cut time. Got all that done then swept up again. I proceeded to put the skeleton on my on my dolly and determined again what was gonna have to cut off. There was a tremendous amount, but there will be no rust in this girl any more. Cut off everything i needed to and cleaned up one more time. She is now ready to go to the blasters.

WOW, looking at the pics it sure was dirty/dusty in there, no wonder i was blowing some black boogies when i came in. ugh.

I had my share of black boogies today too Still wondering why I did not think to grab my respirator. I did find my eye & ear protection. Great thread BTW. ~subscribed~

This is going to be a build to remember. I like the braces I think I can handle it. I wish I had a bigger shop so I could pull the 68 in there and see how bad it really is. Unfortunately it has the dreaded vinyl roof and I know it will be ugly underneath.

This had a vinyl roof also. Bit only to cover up the piece of tin pop riveted on with 5 gallons of mud. Oh forgot to say but realized yesterday this car was rolled, hit on the rear right, and both qtrs were replaced at some time, well hardly held on. I would personally love to get a 68 camaro, but i know that will never happen in my lifetime. oh well.

I think in this case, if a new shell was too expensive, it may have been worth it to find a better donar car. That thing was one speed bump away from dropping and scraping the middle of the car on the pavement.

Buy lots of welding wire and gas, you're going to need it.

Never say never James. I know it can happen, you may have to slip below the border to get it though.

Why? There is one on Saskatoon kijiji for $3500 right now. You have proven time and time again that you can bring these back from the brink! Buy one and get around to it sometime!

Ha, that car was a SGI salvage car, partsonly can not be registered. The guy was trying to sell it as a registerable car. Yah right. I feel sorry for some guy that might buy that, put work into it and find out that he can never put plates on it. Too bad.

Well mike came by today and is gonna take the next week and get his skeleton sandblasted so it is ready for me starting next week. However they ordered the wrong frame rails, so order another set before i can do that, but i think i may have a bit of patching to do yet. This will be the rebirth of this car as we all know it now.

So that was the one that went for $1200 in the salvage auction? There is another first gen on there now but I would bet the guy wants way more than he should......
