Re: Anyone here dodge fans to?
Thanks, I love my dodge, and I couldn't have gotten a better deal on it. The thing was on the lot for a year and a half. Build date is 11/06 on a 2007 model. I bought it in May of 08 brand new, back when diesel was topping $5 a gallon. The dealer was really motivated to sell it so they gave me nearly 50% off sticker. I bought this Cummins for under 20K

Re: Anyone here dodge fans to?
when it comes to trucks, i prefer chevys and i love my 72 burb, but i do like many other brands. my daily driver is a 97 merc sable wagon that still gets me to work every day despite 202,000 miles on the clock. i also have an 87 ram 50 (mitsubishi pickup) that was my grandfather's last truck and i plan to fix up so i can put it back on the road. my BIG resto/mod project was my first car.....an 86 aries wagon that my parents bought in 1988 and then replaced with that sable 10 years later. so i am not so much brand loyal but model loyal.
i really would love a vette, but my burb is a classic ride that is more practical than a 2 seater and it still has a v8 under the hood. mustangs are nice but not my style....i'd rather have a first gen or mid 90's t-bird for a sporty "phord." and i'm also a big fan of hotrodding k chassis chryslers.......i have done a TON of researching and gathering parts to turn my k wagon into a turbo-intercooled sleeper that will spank most modern cars in terms of speed, handling and braking......poly bushings, braided lines, shelby dayonta suspension, spirit rt 11" 4 wheel vented disc brakes, the stroker 2.5 T1 engine with T2 turbo and intercooler setup from a 2.2 daytona, beefed up auto trans with Peloquin LSD, big exhaust and other custom pieces. it will be stupidly quick but totally throw off the cops 'cause the parts are all bolt in. american, european and japanese cars are fine. but, i will NEVER buy korean....aka hyundai, daewoo, kia, etc. sorry, but my bare bones k car is a better product despite the antiquated technology and 30 year old design!! Re: Anyone here dodge fans to?
as much as I would like to harass you for having a dodge I have to admit they were quite stout and reliable. my Dad had a 71 D100 318. he moved my Grandma from Brainerd MN to Pheonix back in 85. pulled an 8x12 U-Haul and the back end was heavily loaded (rear bumper was 2" off the ground).
when we bought the corner lot in Oct '79 it HAD bushes all around it. good ol' Dad welded a 1/2" plate to the rear frame rails and welded on a few grab hooks. dug down to the roots, hooked up the chain slack while up on the curb, neutral drop @ 2000 and the bushes all came out. finally one day when the truck had about 175,000 hard miles on it he came home from work, revved it up, shut the key off, and it started running backwards. last day for old red. |

Re: Anyone here dodge fans to?
I've never owned a phord(I have several on my list and my Dad was a die-hard phord guy).I have owned lots of Mopar and parts is generally higher fer them.I currently have a 2000 Dakota for a DD and have put a water pump and thermostat in it over 10 years and 110000 mi.I've always had great luck with them.I would build a early 70's one if I could.I really like the Warlock but haven't seen one in years.(Think Little Red Wagon only black and gold).I would also have any of the 60's-70's Mopar Muscle cars.

Re: Anyone here dodge fans to?
I'm a Dodge fan. As a matter of fact, the first truck that I ever drove was a 1979 Dodge D100 318/A-833 4spd truck when i was 5 or 6 years old sitting on my dads lap. I don't really know of any forums like this one for Dodges other than the LRE forums and the Macho forum.
Here's a couple of the Dodges we've had since I was born in 91. The dark blue one preceded my Chevy and it was a dog, but I loved it. It was my first drivable truck. Our other 79 with a 225 /6 backed with a A-833 and an 8 3/4 Chrysler. Bought for $800 sold for $500. The dark blue one. 87 with 318/904 and a Chrysler "Heavy Half" 8 3/4 rear. Bought it for $1,400 and scrapped after my wreck 5 years after purchase for a upsetting $172.

Re: Anyone here dodge fans to?
I love me some Cummins diesels....My mule is a 03 2500 CTD and its the best, smoothest 3/4 I have ever road in. Pretty quiet on the highway to for a Diesel. I have been almost totally across the USA in it pulling old Chevys and Ill stand by it. Ive owned alot in my short time, one of my prides was a 71 Chrysler New Yorker U Code 375HP 440. It was a 2 door that was beutimus. If it wasnt for the fact that it was so dang heavy, Id still have it. (Thanks Uncle for moving me across the great US every few years) Plus 4-9 MPG's and having to use 93 when gas was worse than today didnt help either.

Re: Anyone here dodge fans to?
I have a 99 Durango that has served me extremely well. So well that I want another one or maybe a Dakota. As for older MOPARs, I have always wanted a late 60s Dart with an old 340 or a newer 360 like I have in my Durango.

Re: Anyone here dodge fans to?
I bought a 72 Dodge pickup, when I got out of the Navy, back in the mid 70s. It was a good running truck with a 318 4 speed. I got dang good fuel mileage, but the springs on it were lousy for a truck.

Re: Anyone here dodge fans to?
I think they're cool... I even looked at buying one cause it was cheap - 74 shortbed 1/2 ton with a good running 318 in decent shape for $500. Too bad there's absolutely no parts available for them.

Re: Anyone here dodge fans too?
I love the old Dodge's but wouldn't give a nickel for a new one. I have a friend that lives a few doors up that has his grandfather's 68 D100. I would give almost anything for that truck...

Re: Anyone here dodge fans too?
I like dodge and gm but lately dodge has been slack in the truck area but so far the only great thing they done was bring back the challenger. I'm not hating on them but all the grills are the same for the van truck and car line up

My grandpa shaw had a black one, a dark blue and creamy white one. Since he passed the family let them go down. I liked my grandpas old trucks. I remember riding in the blue one as a little kid goin to the market to get some more cows and hogs. Good times
