Oh those are left over from when I used the hoist to remove my cab. I had a 4x4 on top of those 2x4s which was used to lift the cab. I just never got around to removing the 2x4s.

Re: Blueprint Engines 383 Stroker Crate Motor

Mine just showed up today, looks awfully simlar! Started getting the pulleys and stuff on tonight as well.

The unveiling!

Got the Jegs TH350 in the box next to it as well.

Nice that everything is assembled - time to return the $55 dollar Blueprint install kit, that included all the little items the engine already came with - annoying

I find it very odd that Blueprint constantly says no vacuum advance over and over, yet they hook it up from the factory? wtf?

Check out the greasy old 307 crying in the corner next to it!

Re: Blueprint Engines 383 Stroker Crate Motor

What's up with the dirt bikes? Looks like they've never seen dirt! I rode a RMZ-450 up until back surgery in late 2008. Sold all my moto stuff and bought a 68' to keep me busy.

Re: Blueprint Engines 383 Stroker Crate Motor

The dirtbikes are new, only seen dirt once so far, and thoroughly cleaned up afterwards. 2010 Yamaha YZ450F for me, and a 2009 CRF230F for the wifey...don't worry, once I get this new engine in, they will get ridden a lot more!

Nice motors. I'm thinking of ordering the Blueprint "Budget Stomper" 355 from Summit. Hopefully I can get them to match the Jeg's price too.

Re: Blueprint Engines 383 Stroker Crate Motor

I almost got that 355! the price per hp just can't be beat...

I am wondering if I can shoehorn the engine/tranny into my truck without taking off the grill/radiator support...anyone tried this?

I haven't tried it but have friends that have done it many times. Make sure to drain the tranny fluid or you'll end up with a pool under the truck.

Good to know, the Jegs TH350 will be essentially dry when I do it anyway, except for a quart or so in the torque converter. I will then top everything off and get the engine running for the 15-20 minute break in. Then raise the backend of the truck and do the tranny break-in/fluid top off procedure.

Right off the bat I noticed it had the kickdown cable plugged, so I don't know if I should crack the pan open and reinstall the stock one, or just drive it how it came?! I really wish Jegs would add a 'reviews' section to the products they sell, it would be really helpful!

I've never pulled the core support to install a motor or a motor/tranny combo. Just the transmission crossmember if they're going in together.

I actually prefer to set the tranny first and put a support under the pan to hold it up until the engine is bolted up. I normally use a 2x4 and a small floor jack.

Good to know, the tranny support is already out since a new CPP one is going in - glad to hear it's easily doable!

Re: Blueprint Engines 383 Stroker Crate Motor

Yeah it's no sweat. You will probably want to use a load leveler on your engine hoist though. Once you drop it down in there you can raise the tranny, slide in the crossmember to hold the tranny up and then line up your motor mount bolts before you fasten the tranny to the crossmember.

Thanks for the tips, that is essentially my plan, I have my 2 ton hoist and 2 ton leveler which should make things easy.

Shipping on the engine depends on the model, anywhere from $119 to $189. R&L carriers delivered it, and the truck driver was nice enough to help me wrestle it through some soggy lawn, and into my garage.

Re: Blueprint Engines 383 Stroker Crate Motor

I forgot to post my dyno results that shipped with this thing.

From 2600 to 5300rpms it was making over 400ft-lbs with the peak of 441 at 4100rpms. From 1800 to 5800, the full dyno graph range, it never fell below 358ft-lbs of torque, which is just insane to me.

Horsepower was a steady climb from 123 at 1800rpms to 397 at 5800rpms. Peak hp was 405hp at 5400rpms. At peak torque, 4100rpms, it was making 343hp.

I wonder if I will ever want/need the kickdown cable attached onto the TH350 tranny with these numbers when it comes to going around cars doing a 55-80mph pass(lots of 2 lane highways with truck/motorhomes in our truck's future). Seems to me there will be plenty of get up and go even in 3rd gear with my highway friendly 3.08 rear gears, and I could always just manually drop it into second if needed.

The headers are from Headman, nice eye there Ironangel, they are the HTC coated elite ones - 69890 is the number I think. The box next to it is a full Pypes street pro x-pipe exhaust kit so I am excited of how it is going to sound after watching all their youtube videos.

---Needless to say, the above items coupled with a CPP grandslam and front discs in 5 boxes that you can't see in the photos; I have a lot of work ahead of me if I am to get this all done by mid april so we can head to our property and ride some dirt bikes!

What came out is a 307 2 barrel, ran great, but smoked a bit on startup and never got my adrenaline going at any rpm! ...

I searched all over looking for a good video of this motor in action. Thanks for sharing!

Lot of good information. Something tells me we contributed to a few sales of this motor.

I don't doubt it, and at it's current price, who could pass it up!

Summit is only an 45 - 60 min drive for me so I won't have to pay for shipping.

Could someone please give me a measurement from the bottom edge of the intake to the top of the carb?

Summit ships from different locations so you might want to give them a call before making the drive. I believe my motor was shipped out of Atlanta.
