Re: Factory buckets and installations factory only please!

Those are the very same brackets used in the '73-'77 K5's with the center console, except they are simply screwed to the floor in a K5 (notice the little mounting holes that are not being used). '78-up K5's used a single piece plastic bracket that seems to be a little more sturdy. It worked in my '77 K5, so it should work well in the pickup too.

Factory dealer order sheet showing the 2 tone interior options and colors with bench and buckets.....and as they state these are only the suggested ones....back then if you wanted a special color combo you could order it.

Re: Factory buckets and installations factory only please!

I've never ever seen a set of stock buckets in one of these trucks. I'm taking it that they are pretty rare. Was it an option for Canadian vehicles?

Re: Factory buckets and installations factory only please!

Definitely available in Canada.....I ordered them new on both my 78 and my 80...rare option in both countries as chevy did not offer a supercab until 88 which meant your bucket seat truck was a 2 seater ....so you find them most often in short box "sport" trucks...based on the number of trucks I have seen I would estimate less than 1 percent of production ....and 1981 was the last year for the option.

Re: Factory buckets and installations factory only please!

I recently installed '91 Suburban buckets. Since I found a pair of low back buckets from a '73 truck, I am installing them. The tracks on these are about 1 1/2" wider than the Sub seats. I now need to drill new holes to move the brackets. The 3 point seatbelt also gets in the way. Any other caveats I should know about? I am getting tired of drilling holes in my floor.
I am hoping that I can move the seatbelt and there will be room for the original console and buckets.

I dont know about in the truck yet... but from what I can tell their comfortable. I tend to flop down in them instead of sitting on the floor of the garage lol
