Re: Lowering shackles?

I wasn't singling you out, I was making a general statement.
But since you brought it up......you went from so and so told me, to now it is your personal experience

last I checked, bad info doesn't help anyone....

Re: Lowering shackles?

54caddy, you said in your post to qu1cks1lver he would have to notch his bed if he used drop shackles...

"and if you didn't know you have to notch out the under side of the bed so they clear"

...that is what I was referring to as mis-information. Despite these trucks being a lot alike from 73-87, there are also tons of differences. You may have had to notch yours, but there are differences between the rear springs and this is not always the case.

I just didn't want someone to make the same mistake I did.

No need to get so upset and use profanity.

Payin 25 bux doesn't make you a pro, experience and LOTS of mistakes (if you learn from them) makes you one

Nobody is putting you down, you gave incorrect info, and a few of us disagreed and corrected it...trying to help the OP out as well as others who may be reading this for similar info.

Re: Lowering shackles?

now ladies, dont get your panties in a twist. At least he stepped up and gave some information about his experience, thats what a forum is for, to hear about what other have experienced and get as much information about the subject you can before you hack into your truck. Appearently you didnt do that, you hack into your truck first and are still resenting the fact you have 2 ugly notches in the back of your truck that you don't see. No need to get defensive with another member, besides i cant see those notches from my house.

I did get as much info as I could...from a forum, and the instructions...in case you didn't read my post. I also never got upset with HIM, I just thanked another member for correcting the mis-information. Am I fine with the NICELY (not hacked or ugly as you say...making assumptions yourself) cut notches in my bed, not really...but I can (and am) living with it just fine. Looks like you are now getting your "panties in a twist"...making personal attacks.

Read all my post in this thread carefully, I never said anyting to 54caddy in a disrespectful way...too bad you couldn't do the same.

Last time I checked, giving correct advise to someone who posted the opposite, was not "putting them down".

Re: Lowering shackles?

Staggered and 54caddy...here are ALL my post in this thread, so you don't have to physically go back and read them before commenting. Tell me where I was disrespectful and made assumptions or attack like each of you did, and swore up and down as well.

Misinformation gets under my skin. I too listened to advice on a message board AND the instructions when I put on my drop shackles back in the 90's...notched my bed supports to clear the drop shackles, turned out I didn't have to because I have the longer 56" springs.

That still bugs me...now I have a notched supports for no reason at all.
Miinformation is a pet peeve, and notice the "LoL"...it was supposed to be light hearted...or you would have seen an angry smiley or something. It is hard to take into account body language or tone of voice in type-written words.

Notice, I never claimed to be a "pro" as 54caddy snidely commented on. I make more mistakes than most, a pro is not what I am.

Re: Lowering shackles?

I had some one tell me that I was giving out poor information rather sarcasticly on this forum too. But I figured they may take the information and see if it worked for them and let it go. Anything further I think would be better off being explained on the "Jerry Springer Show".

Re: Lowering shackles?

to be more specific i went with western chassis shackles and had to notch my bed supports, now on my 84 i used belltech shackles and did not have to notch the bed supports other than that its pretty straight forward in swapping the shackles
