i was looking for a quiet muffler too. The edlebrocks arent as quiet as those cars, stock, i metioned but its smooth and mellow. If you want a cheap x-pipe, call Full Line Exhaust. You have to call for them, they arent listed on teh website. They sold me a 2.5" magnaflow x-pipe for $17. over $80 at summit. In my opinion they make the strongest x-pipe i have seen. http://www.fle-online.com/Brands/Jones.asp Last edited by dznucks; 02-23-2010 at 11:54 AM. |

Re: exhaust question
^this, I meant the high pitched wail of a built lsx with x-pipe. H-pipe is the rougher more classic sound, x is smoother and higher pitched

Re: exhaust question
Flowmaster drone (even with the 70 series big block I believe it's called) sucks. Magnaflow, dynomax ultra flo, or turbos if you want cheaper and you don't mind some resonation and restriction.

Re: exhaust question
i have flowmaster original 40s on mine.. and flowtech longtube headers on my 402.. and where my collectors are im going to take a saw zaw and from the collector go back about 6"-a foot and then put another collector back there to make my own cutout so i dont got to spend the big bucks on actual cut outs..

Re: exhaust question
Here's some Youtube videos of Turbo mufflers. Probably best way to get the sound you want is search different mufflers in Youtube.

Re: exhaust question
Here is the set up I had mentioned in some earlier posts, mufflers and pipes are all stainless. It came in today,(next day delivery is great and no shipping costs even better). I already have my headers on that come out to a 3 in outlet and reduced with the mounting flange to the 2.5 inch exhaust system. Here it is all layed out in my garage. I already did a dry quick fit and seems like there shouldn't be any major issues to install, for once,

Re: exhaust question
Magnaflows cheap? since when? they are just as expensive as any flowmaster and IMHO they sound way better then any flowmaster and I switched from Flowmaster to Magnaflow and they even show better rating in HP and at WOT then any Flowmaster I have seen. Flowmasters IMHO are way over rated then they should be. anyone and everyone can put them on anything to make it sound mean but dont mean they are better then the average just because of their name is overly advertised and over rated. lol not trying to brush anything the wrong way but I just see alot of calling good quality Items cheap or trash when the people dont really know for sure.

Re: exhaust question
Turbos were what I called cheap. My 14x4 magnaflows were 58$ each on summit. Flow 40s were about 80$ locally and they are 70 on summit. We had an si/do 50 big block on an '03 ram. It's the quietest flow according to their site but it droned and resonated on the highway still. And that's a modern truck with a tame motor, cats, and actual insulation. The baffles rotted out in about three years. It'd be a trick to fit two of those big mufflers too, atleast on a step. My lwb had huge mufflers though. So do you want the heavier, more restrictive, louder when crusing, and more expensive mufflers

Re: exhaust question
As far as magnaflows, the bigger the case the more packing there is=quieter. I got the 4" Cylinder shaped ones because they will tuck up the best. But, mine have a 2.25" core, might want a bigger outer diameter with 3" pipe for more packing
