There is your difference. I don't own that particular compressor, but I have one similar for air up bike tires, pool floaties, and the occasional flat tire.

I can tell you from personal experience that this type of compressor will not push enough CFM to do what you have in mind. Even the bigger Craftsman version that I had would take forever to fill a completely flat tire. It helped if I jacked the truck up to alleviate resistance, but it still took a good 15 minutes or more.

One more thing regarding longevity is the cheaper units don't have a bearing on the connecting rod. They have a cheap oil less bushing. I found this out when one of mine threw a rod.

You're right, I guess I will have to use 6 in tandem.

This one has only slighty less CFM and uses a bearing on the connecting rod. It's $80 regular price though, and I could probably get a decent used viair for not much more.

Found this on sale at my local HF today for $55 less 20% coupon = $44 final cost.
Worth looking at for that price?

What size air tank and how much pressure to air up suspension without compressor running?

As far as I can tell, the worst case scenario is, it doesn't work. But at least you'll have a portable compressor in case you get a flat tire. just my $.02 though.

I was looking into that (mercedes) but couldn't find any specs on CFM/PSI. You can find them on Ebay for about $40.

Get real, you are wasting your time. Big money compressors cost that much for a reason. If you want to get creative go with a york, you can pick one up for cheap and fab up the bracket. Your 19.00 compressor is a POS. You are going to look like an idiot trying to air up your truck on that thing. Please please please try to prove me wrong

I will try, in the name of science. As I have stated. Repeatedly. As soon as I go to HF.

to be honest, the viar is junk also. it is better, but in my opinion it is junk. i have had air on a lot of vehicles. i always go with nitrogen tanks, them a viar for a fill if i run out.

thats funny

Youd be better off finding a york in a salvage and getting a rebuild kit for around $50, for somewhere around a hundred bones total and have a good engine driven compressor it would be worth it to go that route but thats my opinion.

They are old AC compressors. Not sure what all had them but it is a pretty extensive list.

If they are "junk" then why are you running one? What makes them junk in your opinion? If they are such an inferior compressor, why do so many big name suppliers carry them?

dont get me wrong here, how many oiless compressors have you owned that have lasted, i can tell you that i have not had one survive like a sump style compressor. they make a good product but i think technology will someday get a better device for us.

Re: Super low-buck compressor - $19

the oasis compressors are pretty much the way to go, the only draw back is the expensive of them. they are a 100% duty vs. a 50% duty. well you also have to upgrade your charging system too. the oasis has a lot of draw vs. the viar stuff. just my 2 cents guys. and the only reason i am running one is what the hell else am i going to use. lol.

Re: Super low-buck compressor - $19

You do know that Oasis compressors are basically an electric motor connected to a york compressor. I've had many buddies run them on their beat up jeeps. Funny thing is when they parted out their jeeps they got more money for their winches and compressors than anything.

As well I've had more buddies run with the Yorks than anything. Worst case they would burn them up either because they where idiots and forgot to recycle their oil from the oil/air seperator back into the york.

Normally you can pull a york for about 25-50 bucks and when it fails if/when you can always pickup another one cheap. What will kill you is the following.

Clutch with the pulley
Mounting bracket
Houses and fittings

Re: Super low-buck compressor - $19

As for the low buck compressor I have one and I've used it to air up my 33-inch tires from 10psi to around 25 or so. Ive been doing it for the last 5years.

Would I rely on it to air up and down my suspension? Uh, probably not on a daily basis but it would work in a pinch

I rebuilt mine and I think I spent 20 or so bucks on the rebuild kit.
