Re: wilwood d52 calipers
I already have Russell stainless steel break lines http://www.jegs.com/i/Russell/799/672300/10002/-1 , will they work with the calipers?

Re: wilwood d52 calipers
gearhead, if you look at the pics that i took of the back of the caliper its really not designed to use a block style fitting. I called wilwood and they told me to use a/n style brake hoses( thats why i got a little ill, wilwood says they "bolt right up" factory pads and rotors. but not brake lines wtf!!! ). the threads that go into the caliper are 7/16-20. I'm not sure what the hard lines are for our trucks.
I used my factory block style hoses i just drilled mine out so i could use a 7/16 banjo bolts. To answer your question, no those lines were not designed for these calipers. could they work, yes. If you want you can call wilwood and they will give you a brake hose part# for your app.

I believe they take a 10mm banjo bolt. I assume like yours. The early trucks (71-80) took the 7/16-20 banjo bolt.

Re: wilwood d52 calipers
I was wondering if the brackets that blackbirds has for the rear can be bought by themselves and just piece the kit together as money comes along so its not such an initial cost. I have some extra calipers i have taken off cars at the shop that we have done big brake kits on and i have plenty of rotors what else would be involved in doing this. sorry for knocking on your thread but now that i know your interested in the rear too im wondering if someone can share some info.

Re: wilwood d52 calipers
the blackbird kits are very nice and simple. you can buy their kit less calipers. they state on their website that they "do not sell parts separately". I priced their kit less calipers, and then added the wilwood calipers. doing it that way would be as much as buying a wilwood rear disc kit. so i'm gonna just do the wilwood.

this is what the wilwood website pulls up for our trucks. I called them and they told me that i really need to check the axle tube flange, and also the distance from the backing plate to the axle. to make sure i order the right kit. this is from wilwoods tech.

Re: wilwood d52 calipers
see i think im a little more form then function, i would want a kit without parking brakes so that it matches the front perfectly. If i was able to piece together the blackbirds kit, i think it will cost me about 450 with the wilwood calipers.

Re: wilwood d52 calipers
blackbird kit is $350 without the calipers. and i paid $165 a peice for the wilwood calipers. plus brake hoses $50 at least. I hope by ordering the wilwood kit without the drilled rotors and adding the red calipers it will look pretty close. I dont really care about the parking brake either.

Re: wilwood d52 calipers
i can get them at wholesale cost. and thats the case with the other parts too, the only thing that i would need is the brackets.

Re: wilwood d52 calipers
i'm going to have to get these now. the front calipers should bolt up to my blackbirds kit and they will match perfectly

Re: wilwood d52 calipers
OK, what exact part number are you using for front calipers and what part number are you using for rear calipers?
I'm assuming you ar using the bigger piston calipers up front and the smaller ones for the rear? Also, what thickness caliper does the blackbird kit use? 1" ? Last edited by smashingchuck; 03-19-2010 at 06:48 PM. |
