Re: :devil:now this is a truck

I wish I had a picture. This was before digital cameras. Back in 94, maybe 95 me and a bud were heading down US231 and came up behind a guy with a huge lift 83 to 87 or so pickup. New paint, new tires, new rims, etc. I sped up to get beside him to admire it. Keep in mind those early 80's trucks had negative arch front springs factory. Well, this guy was riding high and proud on stacked lift blocks front and rear to clear those 44"s. It was freaking insane! We paced it on the side to look at the hack-job and those incredibly stupid looking U-bolts that ran up the side of all those stacked lift blocks.

After a quick size-it-up, I hit the gas to put that death trap behind up. I've always wondered how far that POS made it.

Just because you can do it doesn't mean you should.

Nobody said it...

I was tempted to get 100 yds or so in front of the idiot and stab the brakes and then stab the gas.

It was just a thought that bubbled up at the moment.

You can call me all sorts of names for even thinking of it. But US 231 heads to the beach and I've got a grand that says that truck came off those blocks long before he headed North for home.

Re: :devil:now this is a truck

Looked like it was a pretty decent truck bore those last "upgrades". You would think that once people get to the point that a front drive shaft will not work, they would realize they are doing something wrong.

Re: :devil:now this is a truck

my buddy lifted his blazer something like 36 inches, i had to open the sunroof to talk to him in my cavalier if i stopped next to him. but sadly he rolled it a few months later when he got cut off going around a corner. such a shame. it was a beautiful truck to begin with.

Re: :devil:now this is a truck

Its cool that he is serving, but thats where it ends for me.

Pinion angle is terrible!
The shackles/drop hangers are flat out scary!
53" michelins would fit it much better, but those are too big for only 1-ton axles.
Some deuce and a half rocks' with the 53's and a new suspension (about 15" lower) and this thing would be killer!

in the USA 102" wide is the max allowed with out special permits. That's 8 and one half feet....way less than 12'
I agree with chuck, there is no way that is street legal.
