Re: Fatmat...good or bad

Don't know if it is good or bad yet as I just finished putting it in. The cab looks like an explosion in a Reynolds Wrap factory. Sure went in nice. Heated it up with a heat gun and rolled it out with a wallpaper seam roller. 2 layers on floor, doors, firewall and the back of the cab.

Re: Fatmat...good or bad

Thanks. It's not welded in, it's bolted to the rear tank mounts, the seat mount and under the dash. All steel. Spent six weeks cutting and fitting patterns, first in posterboard and then in 1/8 inch 5 ply plywood. lots of cutting and fitting but...everything fits and my battery is at the rear, under a locking door. If anyone's interested i'll do a build thread.

Re: Fatmat...good or bad

I used ice shield I got from a roofing contractor, its a thick, heavy, flexible rubber that goes on roofs. He had a bunch of cut offs left over from roofing jobs, The stuff looks just like some of the sound deadeners I have seen and it was free. It worked great. I did have to glue it on but that was easy enough and for free was worth a little extra work.

I heard that second skin stuff was the bees knees! Probably should have went with it, but my budget is starting to stretch and this is one of those "want" not need part of my build..
