Im not saying that anything would happen to the truck because you cut the holes in the cross support but its just a personal preference of not cutting holes in cross members. I too was completely satisfied with the sound that the THRUSH Mufflers make. I am going to post a sound bite this weekend when my Son comes over on Saturday. Im a little Technology Challenged.

If you check out daverod and his build thread I did mine like his. I know it was counter intuitive for me too, but thats what the reinforcement is for.

I like them because they sound just as good as any other muffler on the market, and the 30.00 price tag was even better.

Re: Exhaust System going in on the 64 Shortwide

I took the Truck out on the freeway today and these mufflers mellow out at 55 to 65. I didn't want to push the truck being it was the first highway speed run I took it on. I am really impressed with these mufflers and would recommend them to anyone looking for a great sounding rumble at idle and something that mellows at highway speeds.

I`m running thrush mufflers, although very old with 2 inch pipes with a stock motor, they sound nice, they don`t over whelm you when your out for long runs, unlike my coupe with a gear drive that drives you batty....
