Re: Daily Driving?

I wish I drove mine daily. Any snow or ice and I can't get it into the garage. Rain, I don't like cleaning that much. Gravel in the spring is like fingernails on the chalkboard.

4 Years 3500 miles, I'm sorrryyyy, I feel as I have sinned.

Re: Daily Driving?

I was driving mine daily for a few months while my dodge dakota was either being stolen or having its motor rebuilt. I even made a bunch of deliveries in it for our print shop.

Now its getting rust repair maneuvers but should be road worthy by the end of april.

Re: Daily Driving?

I've been averaging 3-4K per year on it. The odometer turned around back to zero last april and its currently showing about 3,300 miles on it.

Re: Daily Driving?

I bought mine in September 2001. I drove it untill the end of October that year then put it in storage for the Winter as our Winters are pretty nasty. I couldn't wait to take it out and start driving it in the Spring of 2002 but some things happened and it stayed in storage until the Spring of 2003. I used the truck as my summer ( April till Ocober) daily driver in 2003, 04, 05, 06, 07 and only put on about 4000 miles on over those years. In 2008 I didn't take it out of storage untill mid August and put her away in Mid Sept. I did the same thing last year. I'm heading to California for the Pomona Swap Meet on April 25th but am going to drive my 99 Cop Tahoe on the trip. When I return home the first week of May I plan to take her out and use her as my daily driver this summer.

I do love driving my truck and can't wait to start using her again.

Re: Daily Driving?

I put just under 2000 kilometers a month on my bagged Blazer. I've driven it 24 hours south of me down into Iowa, and also taken it two provinces over into Manitoba. I drive it as long as theres no snow on the road.. Drivin through rain with no front inner fenders, drivin through heat with no AC, smearin bugs, swervin for road kill, wavin at cops, daily commuting, weekly cruising, goin to shows with bugs on it... DRIVE IT!!

Re: Daily Driving?

This is all good to hear! I'm planning on DD'ing a '67 this summer while I do an engine swap on my '02 Sierra which is my regular DD...
I've got to get some shoulder belts though, just for peace of mind driving with all these idiots on the roads these days.

Only thing that I'm not looking forward to is the fact that I live on about 5 miles of dead-end dirt road before I hit asphalt, and the road commission chooses the worst days in the summer to come out and spray that crappy chloride liquid stuff all over the dirt which almost seems to stick to metal like corrosive napalm and cause more rust than the salt in the winter! I hate it!

nice first post! You've got yourself one badjazz truck right there! Love the side exits.
You say you've been driving it ever since you were 15? Did you buy the truck new, or was this recent, just curious?

Re: Daily Driving?

As soon as I get the motor/trans from my '71 GMC into my new '72 Chevy and save up the money to get it tagged, it'll be my Daily. Perfect timing for Florida heat and no A/C Lucky for me though I work only 3 miles away from home.

Re: Daily Driving?

Drive mine to work and back with a drive home for lunch everyday. It's only about 10 miles each way. I have to run 93 because it is a 1970 350 with 64cc iron heads and at $3 a gallon it gets pricey. I do have overdrive now though.
