Re: My Finished 68 Stepside
Very Nice! I agree the back end needs to come down about another inch though.
A job well done. The truck is beautiful. It's nice to sit back a enjoy it now isn't it?

Re: My Finished 68 Stepside
I built the fiberglass shell under the headliner, and a friend of mine who does high-end leather furniture did the insert and surround. We both installed and finished it. I have another cab that I hung upside down to use as a mold. Thanks to all, Greg

Re: My Finished 68 Stepside
Dang Greg, thats is quality work! That is one of the best builds that I've seen in a long time. It looks like it will keep taking the trophies home for quite a while. Hey, nice buddy buckets!
I'm sure I'll see it up close in the future. Congrads!

Re: My Finished 68 Stepside
It's called Lacewood. It's a Brazillian hardwood that I bought rough cut and machined and finished to what it is now.

Re: My Finished 68 Stepside
The only thing bad about that is that each cab is a little different, I had to modify the fiberglass to fit my cab, and you kinda have to fit it with foam on it before you cover it. Greg

Re: My Finished 68 Stepside
That is beautiful! I love the color. I am getting ready to paint my 72 GMC and cant decide on a color (I am buying the paint tomorrow) What color is that? It almost looks like the stock color of my 69 before I painted it.
Does anyone know the name of the color or the color code? Thanks! Again, that is a beautiful truck! |

I might be interested in that too, let me know the date and route, and we might be able to follow one another.

Re: My Finished 68 Stepside
We all need to figure out the exact date and go from there. I would really like to do this. I know I could be up in your area in about four hours give or take then meet up with you and continue north towards Rob's. I am guessing that we can already drive the trucks from Rob's area.
