Re: Goodmark quality issues
I have stated this in another thread but will repeat here so if you are able to lay your eyes on the repop U can spot the problem early BEFORE U BUY---Look at the middle of the window channel curve--On the factory door the channel is narrower in the arch of the curve --the doors are same all the way around--thus rubbing the drip in the arch--very noticeable if U know where to look....(driver's side is always worse)...............jim

Re: Goodmark quality issues
As far as I know there are no doors for these trucks made in Japan. I always figured, knowing what I know about the upper window frame,if I used reproduction doors I'd just remove the frame and use an OEM frame like has been suggested by D. Passmore. It's not hard to find OEM doors with good frames, like on the doors you replaced. Most are still good. Yeah,it's work, but it beats rebuilding bottoms of doors where rust is likely to try a comeback. Welded metal is vulnerable to rust. There was a time when restoration meant fixing what you have, not bolting on new parts. These parts should be better. But,I think people are also expecting restoration to be too easy.

Re: Goodmark quality issues
That fender patch panel without the ridge is not only Goodmark sheetmetal, I ordered a few myself and they are all like that, I wasn't even able to find one with the ridge. I believe the bed side patches are the same.

Re: Goodmark quality issues
My goodmark doors suck too. Can't even sell them though cuz I shaved the door handles and prepped them for one piece windows. Going to be in Phoenix in 2 months and going to buy some factories with no rust hopefully and will junk the goodmarks I suppose.

Re: Goodmark quality issues
On the Tri-Plus ones I have installed on two trucks the first truck the L/H fit great but on the R/H I had to drill all the spot welds out holding the upper frame in and lower it some. On the second truck on the L/H side had to straighten the frame up it was in at a angle and the R/H had to lower the frame like on the first truck.

Re: Goodmark quality issues
Had a friend of mine drop the coin on some repop doors. he was dissapointed on the fit like mentioned here. i have 2 sets of original doors for my project, and i have test fitted both. they are some noticable fittment issues with both sets of OEM doors. (what i mean by this is getting a nice even gap all the way around the door opening) sure they are better than the repops, but like special-k mentioned sometimes people think beacuse its new it should just bolt right in place. to get any sheetmeatal to fit "nice" it is gonna need some adjustments.

Re: Goodmark quality issues
The facts are they could/should be better, wish they were,at least they make them now, they started out costing $400 each so they're cheaper and that helps, better ones have come out,and rustfree used doors are hard to find. Just be thankful you chose to restore a vehicle they make about any part you need off the shelf. There was a time they didn't and there are vehicles they don't. You still "have to" rework/rebuild/restore what you have or search high and low to find another one better. And when you do you are willing to pay the cost.

Re: Goodmark quality issues
There was a Tri-Plus build started on this site & was to be using only Tri- plus parts.I've haven't seen the finish truck yet. They use a whole floor pan on the truck,i was hoping they would have finish it & show the whole build. It look good.I'm needing doors but hate to try to ship them & with things going up on price on shipping.I hope to find a good OEM door,or just rebuild the ones on my truck with patch panels. To everybody out there rebuilding these trucks.Keep on Truckin'

Re: Goodmark quality issues
I just finished my 72 GMC, The Doors are Tri-plus . I paid $600.00 ea for Junk ! The fit like crap and the windows don't fit right. The LH Upper frame is loose. So we are fixxing the org. Doors and fenders. Spend your money on the org panels.

Re: Goodmark quality issues
Hello. I have been looking for a good original gauge steel fender for my '68 K20. Who should I get one from then? Fixing the original is not really an option. What do you think? Thanks. Brian

Re: Goodmark quality issues
Brickren, look on Ebay and watch it for a fender from AZ, NV, or California, they come up pretty often on there and will be rust free and work better than any aftermarket one available anywhere. I have only used original and Goodmark and I will ONLY USE ORIGINAL from now on! That being said I can't complain about my Goodmark front fenders, they worked and fit good without any work. As did the hood. Doors though as I have already said were an entirely different story.
