Re: Step or fleet?
Here's why I like steppers: Meet Red, my first old truck.

Me too brother. I had the Camaro Mullet! Rolling in my '82 Z28 with Iron Maiden and Megadeth cranked as loud as it would go!

Re: Step or fleet?
I had the same question - Fleet or Step. I think the Step looks way better, but I didn't like the idea of chains rattling and something sliding across the bed and denting the bedside so it could be seen from outside. I've been working on this solution for a couple of months.

Re: Step or fleet?
Roland, I've seen that done with the 47-55 1st series using a suburban rear with pickup fenders, but your the first person I've ever seen that's cut a fleet down to stepside dimensions with the fenders and steps. COOOOOOL!!!!

Re: Step or fleet?
Thanks! As for CHET, I plan to take the entire embossment out of a regular Step tailgat and weld it into the panel where EVROL is now. And as far as "Can't wait to see it finished...." ME TOO!!

Re: Step or fleet?
If you wanted to tub one out for wall-to-wall rubber, it would be simple with this one, but I'm planning to trim the flange off the wheel well and narrow it down to about two inches and weld it back and bolt them on.

Re: Step or fleet?
whoa, that fleet/stepper is wild! Can't wait to see what that stance looks like when finished!
I'm personally a step-side type of guy, but that isn't to say some of my favorite trucks out there aren't fleets! I'd agree with what was said about the steppers looking better on the '67 small windows though, definitely does make it look older than it is, which I personally like. And I think it's just wrong to build up a project truck simply thinking of it's resale value, that disgusts me. Just build it as you like it! Also, maybe it's just in my eyes, but from some angles, maybe depending on paint and trim too, but some of the fleets I see sometimes look like they have on an oddly shaped overly bulky tonneau cover where the belt line flows downward on the bedsides... Anyone else notice that?

Re: Step or fleet?
Actually, I've just retired and figured that I could have fun building an old truck and after it's all done I'll put a good price on a For Sale sign and troll for customers. If someone makes a good offer then I'll start all over again.
My objective is to have a fairly modern interior based around some late model SUV cream leather buckets. Considering I'm going to have a modern interior, a fleet is starting to make more sense as the step is basically a 40's design.
