Re: Air Bag It Suspension
N2TRUX: I am not sure if you are referring to any of my post, but I have not compared CPP to AIM at all. The only reference I made to CPP was that I talked to Jeff about their rear 4 link kit. Jeff was very helpful and with research on the forums here, their quality does seem to be good. As far as buying from Air Bag It, I simply wanted to ask for personal experience from board members and I greatly appreciate your input because you have personal experience with their service (or should I say lack of service).
As far as the current suspension on the truck now. It has a rear flip kit with all remaining leafs in place, but it does not have the shock extender brackets, which would probably help. Up front it has 2.5inch drop spindles and 1inch lowering springs with one coil cut out. The front is not too bad, the rear bottoms on the non c-notched frame horribly and that is the issue. I could simply extend the shock travel and c-notch the truck and improve things, but I instead will be changing to a 4 link of some sort. I will be calling suicidedoors and see what they can put together for me. Welding is not a problem so that might help, but I do not want to alter the bed floor or wheel wells at all. |

Wow, the more people post, the more I am convinced to stay away from this company. I can feel the hatred coming across the typed word from some of you and that is ringing loud and clear in my ears. Thanks for all the input, it is appreciated.

Why bad mouth a company when you have never even dealt with them? You guys can do some reading of recent customers from their new initiative: http://www.streetsource.com/forum/fo...x?forum_id=120 Last edited by 8mpg; 04-14-2010 at 11:21 PM. |

Re: Air Bag It Suspension
i did have the wrong order come in, i had upgraded my bags to the 2800's and they sent me 2600's. I called them up and they sent out the right bags and they sent ups to my house to pick up the box of 2600's. i did not have to pay for shipping or a 35% restocking fee and i got my bags before they got theirs back since i was still at work the first day they went to my home. i had a pretty big order so i could see how this mix up occurred. i feel that i had a pretty good experience with AIM. they guy even stayed late to figure out why their shipping dept sent the wrong order and had the right bags in the mail the next day. if you dont call that good customer service, i dont know what you are expecting.

Re: Air Bag It Suspension
well I'm glad that you had good service SA. I had a bad experience with them. It was years ago with my s10.
From my understanding their new knock off bag doesn't have the internal bumpstop like the slam does.

In regards to my own experience with this company I will tell anyone the same thing as to what I've said above. I've read the streetsource post and remember when Joe started posting on all the forums trying to recoup AIM's reputation. My questions is why for most of the late 90s and early 2000's did Joe not care about what his customer's were saying but for the last year or so it's become a priority? I guess you meant to quote someone...I read it as that was what you based your conclusion off of. I dunno why Joe didnt care about the reputation before... Strange world..maybe he was hurting for sales. Who knows. All I know is that I would be willing to give the company a try. I see way too many people saying its a bad company and hasnt ever dealt with them. |

I guess I was so fired up, I forgot a "not" between "is" and "based"
I think it is admirable that Joe is trying to change the reputation of his company, but when you let it go for so long it seems to be done in vain... Quote:

Re: Air Bag It Suspension
Yea i hate it when your head types faster than your fingers, happens to me all the time which really sucks since im a programmer.
The guy that helped me was Tom Parkinson and he made sure that i was taken care of. As far as shipping cost, they charged me $119.00 to ship 3 boxes totaling 228 lbs. If you are thinking about buying some of the parts that I bought from AIM and are curious to see them in action. Follow my build up thread since I am pretty much documenting my entire build, the link is in my sig. Right now I have just sprayed them with etching primer and going to paint them black but it has been raining here for a few days and wont end for another few more days. Once they are painted they are going on the frame. Going to have the truck show ready by this June, I hope.

Re: Air Bag It Suspension
$119 is a lot of money for shipping. When I bought my SD front crossmember I was charged like maybe $40-50 for 9 boxes

My opinion of this company is based on FACT, not hearsay. I bought from them on several occasions. I got very poor quality products that I had to modify to make work.. I was sent the wrong product and over changed for shipping both ways. I talked to Joe and his wife and all I got was a quote of company policy. They refused to make it right. If you have had a good experience with them that's great. Before you question why I feel so strongly about them please take time to read my post.

Re: Air Bag It Suspension
I really do not like the way this thread is moving. I asked for all input and that is appreciated but someone disagreeing with a personal experience is a fallacy of debate. If someone had a bad experience, I wanted to hear about it, if someone had a good experience I wanted to hear about it. Specifically, if someone had a good or bad experience related to the actual moving parts, that is exactly what I wanted to hear about.
I understand that being burned creates bitterness so I should have expected that to come out in the thread. On a side note, I should be talking with Nate soon with Porterbuilt, so hopefully I no longer have to research any company to see if it is safe to buy from them. Thanks for all the help in steering a new member in the right direction, that is what the aim of the original post was, so I am grateful. |

Re: Air Bag It Suspension
It is...but its much like Ebay sellers. Recoup some of the costs through shipping. Offer lower prices on teh front end, make some of it up on the back end. We cant forget, they have to pay someone to box up the parts, create the shipping label and ship it. While I agree that prices sound high, last time I dropped something off to ship through UPS and had the store package it...darn that was expensive.

Re: Air Bag It Suspension
As well as all the other companies that give you an "up front" price and don't stroke you by sneaking in extra costs on the shipping.

Re: Air Bag It Suspension
3rdgeneration- I sent you a PM to offer opening another thread for you. Unfortunately your post has received the brunt of another AIM/Chassis Tech?Airbait.com or whatever name they choose to hide under this week debate.
Let me know and I will close this thread and open another one for you.

Re: Air Bag It Suspension
N2TRUX - you have every reason to be upset with AIM, because of your horrible experience.
I personally do not like when other people jumpin on and start spoutin out the mouth; with no dealings with a particular company at all. 3RDgen- I apologize for the way this thread has gone, and I know you were just asking about the other members "actual" experience with this company. I can say that I have had good with them, but I have no devotion to any company I have used AIM, FBI (when it was open), and SD. As a consumer, I am purchasing for quality within "MY" budget which is usaully very LITTLE So in the end the choice is up to you and what your budget allows. Re: Air Bag It Suspension
Nate will for sure point you in the right direction. I have not bought from him, but he has helped me in so much with the direction of my truck even with other companys parts.

Re: Air Bag It Suspension
I wouldn't buy from them two friends with s10s bought kits off them.Everything was fine tell about a year of daily driving things started to break on them. One broke a link the welds failed the other a bag mount was starting to bend. What they paid me to fix both they could have bought a better name kit and have no problems.
