yeah ive seen that and a ranger overdrive, that installs before the transmission.
i was trying to see how hard it would be to swap a c60 tranny in as my dads has a od 6 spd outa a 73 c60.

Re: 292 inline open headers idle vid!

i love how the 292 handles in my truck, keep the gearing around 3.73-4.10 maybe 4.56 at lowest, dont get what i got 5.13s as they scream to hit 45mph, i love them but may be too much for most people. the motor wont win many races but it hauls, tows and gets me point a-b and is different which is all i want. i say go for it but please research so u know what your getting into as performance parts(if u go that route) are expensive!! and these motor for some arent what they want. good luck!

Re: 292 inline open headers idle vid!

Are you sure you have 5.13's ? I used to have 4.56 gears and in 1st (granny), it could barely get across a pedestrian cross walk before it was ready for 2nd. I have 3.54 gears in it now and it will make it across an intersection, if it is a small one. I am assuming you have the same SM465 4 spd that I now have in my '67 with 292.
75 mph is right at 2500 rpm and it is very happy at that speed. I seldom use 1st gear and I would love to put a 6spd in it

Re: 292 inline open headers idle vid!

im pretty sure their 5.13 as 35mph comes at 2000rpms and 2500rpms brings me to 45mph, and ive verified that the tach and speedo are accurate. and this is with 31in (235/85/r16) tires. i only use 1st in morning because the motor stumbles being cold and that helps warm it up.i wish i could hit 75!! i havent even tried 50 yet....
