Re: need build ideas!!
I love the truck og! But I'm bias, because it looks identical to my truck. I've got half the side molding off tonight and it ISN'T any fun. I'm using Goo be Gone then rolling it off with my fingers. PITA!
Any how, great start on the truck. I will be watching closely on this one, look for great build ideas for mine also. Good luck and make it fun.

Re: need build ideas!!
I use a shop rag and carbarator cleaner, spray the rag and wipe it off..then wax over where you did it..Works fine. or even lacquer cleaner on a rag will do the same to get that glue off.

i have a few picture updates. for what i told my boss would be a quick paint job turned into a lillt bit more! not happy with how the box came out ( i got lazy) so this winter when i swap motors it will go back to the shop and get the taillights filled and re block the box! there is somthing to be said for sprayable polyester for anyone doing alot of body work! i didn't use it on this one but wish i would have it saves alot of time! i didn't get to crazy with this truck yet... but when i get bored i will!! well here ya go. |

Re: need build ideas!!
Looks good! Nice build you have!
You can get more power out of a carb but then again you can do more to the tbi setups now a days and make them run pretty good. Check it out http://www.tbichips.com/ |

The paint looks awesome, I love red. And the valve covers are my favorite.

Re: need build ideas!!
well the big day came for me and the truck! the reason i bought the truck was to use it in my wedding. eight years ago i had another truck just like this one an i took my wife for our first date in it. the truck got sold a few years later, when i proposed to Pam she told me she wanted the truck back for our wedding. so i found this one on craigslist and had a limitied budget to get it ready for the wedding. it turned out good but the winter plans are just starting.....

Re: need build ideas!!
ah man sorry about that!! i went and took pictures of it loaded them on my computer and that is as far as i got. thanks for the "hint" here ya go...
I call this phase 1: repaint, fix alot of po stuff and drive the crap out of it! phase 2 willbe a motor and maybe a 700r4 swap and if the wife will let me some air ride!! she does not like how it rides so i told her if i air bag it, it will ride better! so we will see. i don't like how the box came out cause i did it really fast ans it has some waves i dont like. so i think i will put caddy taillights in and flip tailgate handle this winter. Re: need build ideas!!
i need to get one of the shifter yet, maybe tomorrow. i took 70 blazers idea and put a cool shift knob on it!
i do feel the truck is missing something but not so sure what yet. what do you guys think? maybe just bigger wheels and tires? or lower? Last edited by og350; 10-06-2010 at 11:06 PM. |

Re: need build ideas!!
I don't think it's missing anything! It turned out awesome man. You could go with some 20's, but it's really hard to beat those SS wheels. My vote would be to just drive it and have fun!!!!

Re: need build ideas!!
I think it looks sweet the way it is.Me personally,I would put a set of wheels on it.Other than that I would drive it and smile.Stance looks great, color is awesome.Congrats on the marraige.Hope it is long and prosperous(and air ride equipped).

Re: need build ideas!!
well it was a long winter but it is finally getting warm so i dug the truck out and pulled the v6 out and dropped in the 383! i kept the 5 speed for now due to money. i used a centerforce dual friction clutch set, i found a really really good deal on a set of tri y headers off ebay! i hope to have it started this weekend then it will be off to the muffler shop once i figure out what to have put on it. i have a bunch of pictures but i only have a few on the computer so here are the headers.

Re: need build ideas!!
I love that you kept the early grille and didnt swap to the 94 up. Looks really clean. If I had seen this before paint I would have said go for the 454ss mirrors.
