Keep in mind that tire height will effect your engine RPM's at highway speeds. If you're running a 3.73 or higher gear with a stock 350 or 400 transmission I would be mindful of how you most often drive your truck. Formula is MPH x Ratio x 336 / tire height = RPM. Already Gone's comments above list the height specs that most web site suggest but when I put a tape measure on the rally's I have with 275x60x15 the height is actually 27".

I know the BFGs are great looking tire but they will set you back about $800 for the set of 4 installed. Might consider the Cooper Cobras which can be $600-650 a set and if you catch a Pep Boys buy 3 get the 4th free plus the Cooper rebate a great deal. Also there is a China built tire called Turbo Tech GT Radial for $500 a set of four.

In the market for new tires and rims so this is a great thread! For those of you with the 275/60/15 tires on all 4 corners, are you having any rubbing issues or fitment issues on the fronts? My 72 has the original springs and is sitting lower than stock and I am wondering if this tire size will cause any problems on my set up. Will be going with a 15x8 rim. Thanks in advance!

275/60 at all corners with 15x8 rallies. No issues at all.

Depends on the look you want. Period correct could mean wider/taller all the way around or staggered skinnies/fatties front to rear. Biggest mistake (for my taste only) is to go wide at the expense of diameter (i.e. lower aspect ratio #, but nothing else. If you go with a lower aspect ratio number - which most folks equate to "wider"... (50 rather than 70), you need to also increase diameter (like a 275 rather than a 235) - or you'll end up with a fat little donut. A small (or smaller than stock) dia tire looks lost in these big wheelwells.

Here are the only options I'd go with if it were my truck:

Same all the way around:
1) 255/70/15 (my first choice)
2) 275/60/15 (my 2nd choice - but this is a pretty meaty approach - to me looks great in back, but can sometimes look too big on the front.

Staggered:
1) 235/75/15 front and 265/70/15 back
1) 215/75/15 front and 255/70/15 back (best for lowered+staggered in my opinion)

Are you lowering the truck? If so, I'd steer toward the smaller #/s as it's not as hard to make the wheelwell look full on a lowered truck.

anybody care to post rear shots to see how wide the stance looks?

i am trying to decide on tires for 6 lug 15x8 8" wide rallys.

255/70/15 look to have a bit too much side wall height.

id like to keep all 4 the same size and lower it to get rid of fender gap.

*edit* 2.5 drop spindles push the offset out 3/4"? 255/70/15 on a 15x8 will rub?
