Were you thinking mount it to the roof?

I keep going back to the stock location. I'm thinking it would be the easiest route(other than keeping the french antenna). Theres nothing wrong with it, its not ugly just takes away from that "smooth" look. I think a hidden antenna would be sweet but I'm worried about reception. I guess I need to play around with these ideas a little. Keep the suggestions coming.
Thanks

Re: Help I need antenna ideas!!

Yeah, just mount it on top... say it's for aerodynamics. Or, you could mount it in the stake pocket hole and have it either be power raised or a telescopic one you could just push down when you are parked or ???

Re: Help I need antenna ideas!!

I have seen people mount a power antenna in the stake pocket on the bed

Re: Help I need antenna ideas!!

My personal oppinion would be toget rid of it!!
Im keeping the stock position for my antenna but also running a hidden antenna for the posible reception while still looking original
Good luck with whatever you do though!

Re: Help I need antenna ideas!!

I shaved my antenna hole and used a hidden antenna. It's a little black box about one inch square and six inches long. I mounted it behind my grille where it isn't completely covered by metal but still blends in. I live kinda out in the country and mountains all around (Northern Utah) not the best in the world but I get suprisingly good reception. I'll dig through my parts books and figure out where I got it. It was only about 30 bucks or so

Re: Help I need antenna ideas!!

Well the stake pocket wont work as I'm planning to put a tonaue cover on it. Highliner, I'm curious about your little black box. Again, thanks for all the comments and suggestions.

Re: Help I need antenna ideas!!

Sorry I am late on this, I had camera issues, here are those pics if you still need them.

Nothing fancy, I used the antenna assembly out of a 96' Camaro, I would think anything would work the same though.

Re: Help I need antenna ideas!!

Well I'm not in the city but I'm not out in the country either. I'm about an hour outside chicago where all the major stations are located. I definately dont have mountains to worry about. I think that might work for me.

Re: Help I need antenna ideas!!

I'm gonna keep that idea in mind. I was searching online today and came across the antennas that mount on the windshield behind the mirror. I like that idea, I'm gonna do more research on that.

Re: Help I need antenna ideas!!

I would consider satalite radio if it was gonna be a daily driver, but I don't know to pay the monthly fee and only drive it every now and then doesn't seem like much sense or cents to me lol. I guess it doesn't hurt to look into though.
Thanks
