That's pretty awesome. I'd like to see the looks on some faces if they rolled that into the Pebble Beach Concours.

Re: Not Mine ....79.6 miles on a 70 chevy pu
Tommy Lee was nice enough to get a hold of the gentleman who owns this beauty. I got the owner's # and will call soon to ask permission to look/cry/mumble incoherently at this time capsule.
I can in no way ever afford such a museum piece, but I would at least love to document it before it's sold and locked away forever I've been thinking of contacting John Gilbert of Custom Classic Truck to see if he knows of a magazine that would like to do an article on it. a truck like this does not come along everyday...... if ever.

Re: Not Mine ....79.6 miles on a 70 chevy pu
Hi guys,
My brother and I are the ones that own this truck. A good friend posted it on here, so I thought I would come on and tell a little about it and answer some of the questions. First off, it is the real deal, a 1970 Chevy pickup with only 79.6 miles. He was a local farmer that originally bought the truck. Now, why would he buy a new truck, drive it back and forth to town 2 or 3 times, then park it in a shed, pull the battery and forget about it ???? I guess we will never know. It was parked in a shed towards the back of his property and when he died, nobody knew about it. His family came in to clear out and settle his estate and found it. The shed was back far enough on his property that there was no road or driveway access to it, they had to walk to it. When they found it, it had been there so long forgotten about, they had to cut down numerous trees and cut a path to get a tractor down there to pull it out. We recorded 2 videos and put on youtube, the first one, part 1, was showing the outside of the truck, the interior and under the hood. The part 2 video showed some of the documentation and the underside of the truck. To this point, we haven't tried to start it and we don't know if we will. That will depend on if a buyer wants to hear ir run or would rather take care of that themself. In response to a couple of comments that were made, one was about what looked like a oil change sticker. That sticker looks to be something the dealer put on there, maybe to remind them to come back there for service. There isn't any date or mileage written on it, just the dealer info, name, address, phone number. Another comment was about the rocker sill plates and the condition of them. Remember, this truck was in a shed for 40 years and while it was there that long, you would expect mice to get in it and they did. They built a nest or 2 in it, but surpisingly, the mice did not chew up any of the wiring, just built a couple of nest and chewed on some of the paperwork in the glove box. Along with the mice getting in it, they left behind lots of mice droppings, the floor mat and sill plates were covered with it. Once we got it all cleaned up, the dropping all over the sill plates, deteriated them somewhat, which you would expect. Last edited by powerdriver 1958; 05-01-2010 at 12:22 AM. |

Re: Not Mine ....79.6 miles on a 70 chevy pu
Cool background info on an awesome time capsule of a vehicle. FYI, Per the board rules you are going to need to become a paying member ($25) to advertise the vehicle/ask for offers here. That being said, it's cool that you will allow tcb-1 to take pictures. Will certainly help the ones here looking to duplicate a 100% original truck with their restorations. Best wishes in the sale of the vehicle. I'm sure a purist with the cash will be contacting you soon!

That's awesome, I hope it goes somewhere to be put in a museum. Hey somebody needs to get ahold of jay Leno, bet he'd like to have that in his collection.

Re: Not Mine ....79.6 miles on a 70 chevy pu
That is an amazing truck! Sure would be neat to know what made the man store it like that. I ran across an 18,000 mile C/20 recently, but it was left outside. It didn't fair as well as this one. I hope to someday open up an old shed and be able to step back in time like that. That one definately needs to be preserved as is!

A friend of mine had i good suggestion about why the bumper was taking off...possibly to get it in that tiny shed.
