Re: 67-72 Daily Driver - Need Help

OK, so I have given the LS1 swap some good thought, but with my budget of 6000-7000 that is really pushing it. I am in MD so a good rust free truck out west would be at least 2000, then 1200 to ship it back to MD. So I would already be at 3200. I have found some good engine/tranny combos for about 2000 which would bring me to 5200. The wiring harness would be about 500 and then building the exhaust would be another 300 plus motor mounts would set me at around 6200. That only leaves me with 800 to cover tax, tags, and title and to buy all other necessary odds and ends. I think this would be a good idea somewhere in the near future, but I just don't want to end up having to spend over my budget right away.

I have to agree - Dingy's idea is the perfect one, really, but it starts getting a little pricey. I would like to do that to my '67 at some point, but I'm gonna wear out the 350 that's in it first, and save my pennys for the swap. Iwould stay with the 350/350 with PS, PB, discs, and a 3.08 rear end, and work towards the LS swap.
