Re: What did you get done 5/16/2010 half through May edition

bought some parts this weekend, a 80 grille and a new glove box for $20. and I pulled a 73 GMC grille, brackets and trim for $25. i grille is crappy but I'm going to try to make inserts with steel mesh...hey the mesh was free!

New rear shocks on the truck! Tune up on a friends Kia Sedona which required pulling the upper intake manifold. Wish the engineers would think when they designed this stuff. Last was a trans fluid change plus new vacuum lines on another friends Audi S4 that we drove from New York to Wisconsin last month. Than I took my truck for a nice long ride to the local ice cream stand to enjoy my new suspension.

Do you have a build thread anywhere? You need one or at least a thread on how your doing the swap. I'm working (loosely used term) on one to and would like to see how your going to locate the crossmember. My build thread is in my sig, but 50-60 hr work weeks since last Oct have prevented me from doing anything but parts gathering....

yeah.. but i don't think i've added anything since the original post...

i should start doing that..

as for locating it... im not sure, the frame seems to be tapered ever so slightly.. i don't know if it;s supposed to be but mine is... so im just going to lift it to the frame and slide it back until it's tight and see if that's going to work..

I've read that 4wd to 2wd thread a couple times... and he says there's like holes on both frames... but i have not seen any.

I was at work all weekend and at night i was doing house work. This weekend I plan to tear the little truck down and do more dynamat. I need to take the dash out and give it some sound dampening as well.

I cant find them either, thats why I was asking you what your plan was. Mine is to measure wheelbase and also use motor mount location. Those two things should be constant. Just dont know when I'll ever have time to work on it again.

Replaced the front fender on the 77 (rusty, only spot on the whole truck), got her side repainted. Pulled off the cheap side moldings. I probably will put some new moldings on her next month after I get the rest of the truck reshot.

Me and my son installed a billet grille into the '87.
