Stuck at work what a bummer. Wedding stuff is done and over with so it's time to jump back on the truck. While Dad was out here visiting we had to go for a little drive in the 66, and he had a strip of rubber nearly a block long!!
Probably not the best thing to do with the bent crank but what the hell eh.

Alright got back in gear bought a cherry picker and dug into the truck. I'm starting to get pretty good at pulling an engine. Had it ready to come out in about 2 1/2 hrs. But the engine lift was about a foot short so back to the store to get the bigger one. This one is going to work I think just need to round up an extra hand to keep it steady.
Found a short block that should work and the guy is going to show me how to put it all together. |

Well back on the truck again. Learned how to put on the top end to the motor this early winter, and now it's getting warm enough to work in the shop. Hope to get the next 350 in the truck soom and I bought a 200r4 to go behind it. Just don't tell the wife I got one,
 she'll wig out. Thinking on a steering column swap but need watch the truck budget, I'd like to get some paint on the truck sometime.

Got the truck back from the transmission shop. I'm not skilled enough to attempt that job. The 200r4 shifts real smooth, but did notice the speedo was way off. It seemed to get to 60 faster than my Camaro. While the truck was at the shop the mechanic noticed that there wasn't any rear brakes. That makes me think I should add a dual master cylinder and inspect the brake lines with more attention to detail. Sent a PM to the Captain about his bracket and the nessasary parts for that upgrade. Any tips are always useful. Will be talking to a local body guy about paint!!

Glad you are back on the road!! you probably have a different speedometer gear set in the 200r4. I went to the TCI transmission site and used their gear calculator site to decide what speedometer gears I really needed when I changed transmission and tire size.

It's 40 degree and Dad's out for a visit, so why not grab some freezing wrenches and get the truck broke down. We removed the bed wood, braces, and the 200lbs rear bumper. That freaking thing didn't want to come off for nothing. I thought that was going to be the first thing to come off the truck for the day and it ended up being the last!

Dad focused on removing the emblems, front bumper, grill, headlights, and all the interior goodies, radio, glove box, gauge cluster and the optional ash tray. I worked on removing the rust on the frame that I could get to. By the end of the day I only had enough grip strenght for a gin and tonic

We decided the trailer tail light have got to go!! I twisted Dad's arm into putting Cadillac tail lights in the stake holders. But which year looks the best 93's or the 94's?

Well decided to get the tank out of the cab and in between the frame rails. But the tank was too snug against the crossmember, so I bought a nine dollar grinder and moved it back. Then got a 1/4" flat piece of metal and bolted it to the frame. Started to bolt in the gas tank mounts on top of the cross pieces and started thinking, how the hell am I going to get this out if I need to?
Unbolted everything and put it in a way to be able to drop the tank from the bottom. Need to run lines not sure of what inner diameter fuel lines to run. I'm thinking on hard lines for the most part. Any suggestions?? Pics coming soon! |

The tail lights look good. I have seen that on a newer S-10 but not an older C-10. I like the ones with the red lenses. Some of the Caddy tails have a clear/frosted looking lense. I prefer the red ones.

You have a really cool build going on here!
I would like to say Hello and Welcome from Spokane which is home, and just up the street from you, but I am currently in central Alaska. So I guess Hello and welcome to the site from beautiful downtown North Pole !! Congrats on getting past the wedding bells and bills, funny how close those two words are.... Is your wife interested in classics? Mine wasnt until she met me, now her 1972 LeMans is being professionally restored back home, and she comes out to the garage to help me with my '66 stepside. Good luck on the build, hope to see this one in pics all the way thru the build !!

Been real bad about working on the truck and posting new pics. Started back in the spring got the brakes working better and safer with a dual master cylinder and rerouting the brake lines away from the headers. Big difference in whoa pedal.
Then we finally got on the power steering conversion. Dad was able to dust off his welding skills on the steering shaft. Next I got on moving the gas tank to the rear using a fuel cell. I went ahead painted the floor with a few coats of POR 15. Makes the floor look a little nicer even though it's getting cover up!
