Re: need a carb. gmc 5.7 350

I'd probably stick with a rebuilt Q-jet for that engine, -- the best combination for power and economy for a mild motor (plus all the factory style fittings should be there)

I can't remember where the other end goes. I think it attaches to a wire on the passenger side valve cover, but where it goes beyond that I can't remember.

That may be the correct replacement, but i would use an earlier one without the mixture solenoid. It is just a little more complication that is unnecessary. I replaced mine with an earlier model.

Re: need a carb. gmc 5.7 350

ok. so today i left work and dropped truck at shop to get inspection done.
passed.
on the way from work to shop, truck seemed to ride fine, UNTIL i reached 30-45 mph. in that range, there was this, missing/hesitation. with a little back fire here and there from exhaust.
if i go from stop and accelerat thru them speeds, there truck moves fine.
but if i drive normal, nice and easy and dont push truck, it happens.
the truck back fired from exhaust a couple times... then shut off.
i put it in nuetral and it fired right up. couple more misses and i was at shop.
left a note to check it for me....well nothing was checked.
stickers on, but nothing checked.
would this be happening if my timing is off, or too advanced or do i have other more serious problems??
sometimes if drives fine, and dont miss thru that speed, but most of time it does.
on the way home, it was pretty much the same. at them speeds, it would bogg, mis, hesitate.
and then there was this loud pop...gunshot like....just 1.
wasnt sure what happend but after pop, truck seemed to drive fine. even thru them speeds.
but naturally, it didnt last.
a little while later, same issues around them speeds???
any thoughts?
