Re: fuel mileage k5 blazer guys?
I just did the math, I have always been happy with the mileage with my 1991 suburban. I went to Edmonton last year and have the reciepts so I thought it would be interesting. 18.2 mpg and yes that is US gallon. The original owner said that he could get 21mpg with a light foot. and based on my driving experience he might be right. 18.2 is running 120k in a 110 zone. He claimed that if you could drive 100kph you would get 21, who can drive 100 kmh?
The burb is a 350, 700r4 , cold air intake and a K+n conical filter. Im not certain of the rear diff ratio, but its no rocket off the line! |

Re: fuel mileage k5 blazer guys?
I drive my M1009 almost every weekend because of the 6.2. Really great engine. Wondered "why" back when they were new but get it now. I only fill this truck up 3 or 4 times a year. There's an extra plus in there, when I get the 33's on there's no reason to expect the mileage to change.

Re: fuel mileage k5 blazer guys?
89 Jimmy (the real kind), 350 TBI/700r4 stock gears (?) I get 9.5-11.5. Motor is old & tired. Hope a new crate will help me out. I've already rebuilt the fuel system with no noticeable improvement.

Re: fuel mileage k5 blazer guys?
My '86 with a 5.7 TBI [running a 1" Heix spacer, 1/4" injector plenum riser, and .202 Vortecs] got 15 average bolted to a 700R and having 3:08 gears, and it had 33's with 7" of lift.
The same engine went in my current '88 minus the 1/4" injector plenum riser, with an SM465 and the same gearing and it got 18 average.
