Re: Nothing like a little rust repair!

Hey guys, Yea I've been working hard and have made some progress. took the Cowl Panel off and patched both the cab fresh air vents as well as repaired some rust while i was in there. Also got the roof skin off and started cutting our rust around the upper window channel as well as the inner roof skin. Got the cab flipped up on its back so I can start getting the underside cleaned up. Slowly but surely making progress

Re: Nothing like a little rust repair!

Figured out my plan of attack and started to tackle the rust in the door frame and upper window channel.

Question Re: Nothing like a little rust repair!

Awesome job!! How did you get to the rear cab roof seam to remove the roof?

Re: Nothing like a little rust repair!

I just cut about 2" forward of the rear roof seam with a cut off wheel after drilling out all the spot welds around the drip rail. That way I was able to remove the roof skin and get to the spot welds where the rear roof seam meets the cab. Once those spot welds were drilled out I removed the remaining 2" of the rear skin.

You are doing a great job and I really admire the work. I wish I knew how to do this. I would enjot it and I could save my 67 cab.

Thanks man, the best part about going through all this work to repair rust is the fact that I can tell myself I am saving a classic from the graveyard! This is my first time doing any body work, originally I was nervous about cutting into this thing, now my mentality is it's only metal and I cant hurt it

Re: Nothing like a little rust repair!

Here is a couple more pics of what I did last night. Starting rebuilding the passenger side upper window channel. I was trying my best to replicate the rounded corner like factory so this is what I came up with. Once I weld it all up it will look like one smooth piece (from the factory there is an overlap). I still have the rest of the window channel to rebuild but I've been needing to get this corner out of the way
