Re: let's talk radiators

Pips, entropy uses dual spal fans, i think i would go with his setup. you can get the dual fan setup with the wiring for the price of the spals listed on your link above for just the shroud. I have several inquiries into Tony @ entropy, here is one of his replies:

The radiator and wiring harness with the dual fan setup are $649 ($549 for radiator with the dual fan setup and $99 for the harness). The fan/shroud combo is $249. If you buy the radiator and wiring harness together from my website (www.entropyrad.com) rather than Ebay, you can use the coupon DIRECT25 at checkout and take $25 off the total.

Thanks for the information. I didnt realize he was selling just the fan set up alone.....His set up is better looking too.

Re: let's talk radiators

I used this dual fan:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DER-16927/

with this dual fan controller:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DER-16789/

I did have to make my own fan mounting brackets using angle aluminum.

Re: let's talk radiators

I got my shipping notification from UPS which said the radiator I bought from e-bay is coming from Entropy Corporation. The one I purchased from e-bay is from engineered cooling products? Dont know what is up but I sent a message to the seller to see if the radiator being sent is the same as Entropy on e-bay or entropyrad.com. Maybe they ran out and drop shipped an Entropy radiator to me. I saw they are both from Chicago area. If it in fact an Entropy then I will order his fan set up also.

Re: let's talk radiators

radiator showed up today. Not happy with the way it came. I'm contacting the seller to return the radiator. This will probably cost me unless UPS eats the shipping. The seller also charges a 20% restocking fee. Let me know what you guys think? The core also appears to have a bow in it. Looks like I will be saving a little more and going with a be cool radiator. I guess the saying you get what you pay for rings true.

Re: let's talk radiators

The damage to the fins looks like unfortunate shipping damage or a lack of attention during packaging. I would be interested in a picture of the bow in the core. The only damage to the radiator I received was due to my clumsiness during installation. I believe you should send a quick email to the seller and see what they say. I will bet you get a quick turn around and a positive reply since the sellers ebay feedback is quite good.

I sent him an e-bay response asking for his email so I can send him some pictures. I will take a pic of the bow in the core tomorrow. I'm not sure if Im too picky or not, but attention to detail seems to go by the wayside with current companies. Im sure the bent fins wont hurt the overall performance, but paying for a new radiator and having the bent fins just rubs me wrong. If I caused them its one thing....

Re: let's talk radiators

Not only does that not affect form, fit, or function, but after you put it in, no one could ever even see it.

I bet they'll send you a new one, and pay for everything in order to save thier reputation.

Since they'll be sending you another one, or giving you money back, I'd drop it in the truck, and make sure the brackets and stuff fit; because it would suck to get a replacement just to find that it didn't fit in the first place.

I bought one once brefore and everything looked great until I tried to screw my radiator cap on and it would not go on because it barely hit the radiator bracket. Had to cut the spout off and relocate it.

again maybe its just me, but I have a problem with paying for a new item and recieving one that is damaged. To me it's no different than buying a new car with a scratch in it. Doesnt effect the performance at all, but Im paying for a new car not a damaged one. The fact that you would not be able to see it does not take away from the fact that I know it's there. If I damage it, then I can live with it.

It is not an entropy, but the seller says he stocks their fan units so Im still not sure of the connection between the two.

If you have the time to wait for another radiator I agree completely.

You could probably straighten out the fins with a small screw driver or a pick, but if it has a bow in the core and you don't mind waiting, by all means wait for the new one.

Re: let's talk radiators

the seller just offered an exchange for an entropy unit with dual fans, paying for the difference of course. Not sure if he will waive the shipping since I have to pay to ship this one back. Waiting to hear back from him.

You should not have to pay to ship the damaged one back. It's their fault or the shipper's fault, not yours.

he is going to waive the shipping for the new unit. Entropy radiator with dual fans and wiring harness. Hopefully it shows up new! Have to wait for the one I shipped back to arrive before he sends the new unit out.

so did you just have to pay for the fans? and the guy is shipping you a entropy radiator for the same $$ you spent on the original radiator?

no, the original I bought was not an entropy radiator. I had to pay the difference between the original one I bought and the entropy unit with fans. He waived the shipping on the new unit. I also bought the wiring harness. Basically I had to pay shipping twice if you consider I had pay for the original shipping and to ship the old one back.

Thanks for looking in to it for me, that makes perfect sense now. A gentlemen named Mike has been in contact with me and I should get it late this week or early next week. I hope to add some more input for installation of this radiator and how it performs. I wont have it running until winter, but I know people wanted a true review of how this radiator works in our trucks. I anticipate that it will work great based on the reviews for other types of vehicles that have used entropy radiators.

Re: let's talk radiators

I like Old Air's dual fan setup. It is designed exactly to bolt into 67-72 GM trucks, so it costs a little more...but, it is almost plug & play. Comes with all harness, relays and a great tech line from the guys who know their parts.

We can't buy a good copper OEM style radiator around here any more. It's all plastic and alum and u-g-l-y!
