Re: original-71 gets new shoes

Awesome wheels! Where are you planning on getting your 4.5/6 drop from? All I can seem to find (for rear coils) is a 4" rear drop from djm.

You can get a 4.5"/6" drop from ECE (Early Classic Enterprises)
There are several companies that sell a 6" rear drop spring.

Nate, do you think you could go with a 45 series tires and without clearance problems?

Let me do some measuring and see what I can come up with for you. IMO, the 45 series tires a just a tad to tall for my liking but to each their own. It looks like they are .4" taller on the sidewall and radius (245/45), .5" taller on the sidewall and radius (255/45) and .6" taller on the sidewall and radius (295/45) when compared to a 245/40, 255/40 and a 295/40.

Here's a few more pics of the truck as requested. They are cell phone pics, so excuse the blur.

It always amazes me how a new change of shoes can make a truck really shine.

Do you ever intend to haul / tow with your truck? Obviously a loaded truck is going to need more room for frame to axle travel.

No c-notch on Nates truck required.

Re: original-71 gets new shoes

no i will not plan on doing any towing, hauling or daily driving. i only use the truck to cruise and for car shows. the only hauling in that truck is done every sunny sunday right at noon for my dad to go get his beer from the local corner store.

Thanks Keith!

I pretty well had the same idea that you do, I didn't want to hack into my frame and if need be, be able to return the truck to stock stance. (Not that it will ever happen. )

The only time I have bottomed out I was running a pretty good lick on the highway and came off a multi-lane bridge in a dip in the road. Other than that, this thing is smooth and clean as far as suspension goes.

We've hauled a few things at various times just so we could drive the truck at the same time, but for the most part, the old red cooler, a canopy, chairs, and a cooler filled with icey cool beverages.
