just a thought on it but.......could it be the trucks with a small pedal were "custom ordered"......stock order would have big pedal, custom ordered options could be manual tranny possible so put in smaller pedal.......am i makin sense?would one factory just do non custom orders? just guessin

K
Vehicles orders are alotted to the various plants primarily based on a) geography and b) major options (like series, wheelbase, powertrain).

They would not be parceled out based on something minor like variations in brake pedals.

Stop confusing us with knowledge and logic, Keith.

I have it figured out. My tuck has a big pedal because I have big feet!

Re: brake pedal on auto trucks, some wide some narrow why?

Keith Seymore is correct that the auto trans with power brakes got the wide pedal and the narrow pedal is for auto trans with non power or manual trans trucks. All other guesses are just guesses. My black truck is a narrow pedal truck . It was non power brakes and I have had several non power brake trucks and all have been narrow pedal.

A-HA!... But I bet all our pedals have that same exact wear spot on the right side-edge... worn down so bad...that the pad slides right off towards the left!!

Interesting how the gas pedal stays fairly new?... mine does anyway..

BTW.. I got the big pedal too..

Every one I have had that were auto had the large pedal: '73 custom c20, '78 silverado c10, and '86 scottsdale k20. My '80 was manual with a small pedal.
