Re: What did you get done 8/30/10 edition
I got the rearend put back under my Blazer with new leaf springs & shortened driveshaft so it is sitting just the way I wanted it. With the 4x4 Tahoe spirngs rearched, it's now 4.5" front and 5" rear.
I also got all of the stock brake hard lines replaced with S/S lines, removed the gutted factory p/v and put the CPP disc/disc p/v in its o.e. location. With the McGaughy 13" front & rear brake kit, corvette M/C (I repainted it after this pic, didn't realize it looked so bad until I looked at this pic), new lines & p/v...it now stops like a fat corvette . I drove it about 100 miles this weekend without much issue...except the d@mn module took a puke in the distributor, but it's not my first rodeo, so I already had one in the glove box. |

Re: What did you get done 8/30/10 edition
Seems the C-30 decided I needed to be reminded how to reinstall the power steering pump belt when I started it Saturday. Bolt was loose on the bracket.
Also began the process of detailing our 05 Dodge Ram before it goes up for sale. Using a cleaner, then claybar and finally wax...this is going to take some time! Haven't even started the interior. Oh well, been deserving it. At least the doghouse is done. Mark

Re: What did you get done 8/30/10 edition
Met up with some board members on Saturday for dinner in San Marcos, Tx. Worked Sunday to replace my A/C dash controller that hasn't worked right in years after seeing smoke come from the defroster vent last weekend. I didn't find any burned wires on it or the fan, so I'm kinda baffled on that one.

Re: What did you get done 8/30/10 edition
One of my best buddies since grade school came by yesterday and helped me pull the motor and tranny out of the Hornet. Solid dude and one of the few I can count on in any endeavor. Been paling around with him since 81' (our dads were in the service together). Drank a 12 pack and damn near half a bottle of liquor in the process.....
A few pics for you of the hack job the PO did to install that Olds boat anchor. I am the handsome one in the oily shirt. My 2 1/2 year old actually hung out outside and played while we did most of the work since momma had a lunch date with her girlfriends and my six month old. We promptly took the whole setup to the dump and kept it going......................

Re: What did you get done 8/30/10 edition
I have to do that sometimes. I don't know exactly why it does it but it will burp back fuel the regular way of pumping. But if you turn it upside down its fine.

Swapped out the old smoking 350 for a new one. Took all weekend but it's done and runs great.

Re: What did you get done 8/30/10 edition
I see them regularly in the junkyards. The diesels were Olds based. When they went out, people swapped them out for Olds gas engines. It was a pretty easy swap.
I knew a guy when I was younger who had a C10 with a Pontiac engine. It was what he had when his smallblock went out, so it went in the truck. He drove it that way for years. Slonaker |

Re: What did you get done 8/30/10 edition
The truck was originally a 6 banger. I guess the PO or whoever he got it from, had this Olds 260 / TH200 combo laying around and swapped it in. The joker had to notch the crossmember to get it in since the TH200 is the same length as a TH400 short tail. If it would have been a bigger Olds small block, chances are it might have stayed in. The small block 350 that's going in is only temporary until I can get money to build my 396................

Re: What did you get done 8/30/10 edition
Parts came in friday, plastic trim for the front bumper, polished stainless steel bolts for the bed and interior moldings.
I only painted the interior moldings, havent installed them yet. went racing instead.

Re: What did you get done 8/30/10 edition
The first time I went to get gas for this truck I just put the nozzle in the filler neck like I would any othe car. But the filler neck would fill up with gas and click the nozzle off every few seconds. It took forever just to get a little bit of gas in the tank. Plus there was the massive fuel leak at the fuel pump from a bad hose, and the fact my tranny was aleady Tango-Uniform. The truck left the gas station on a rollback. But I asked the question on here about this not-taking-gas problem. Someone recommended putting the pump handle in the filler neck upside down. Not sure if it was odd circumstance or if there's something to it, but the next time I went for gas I tried the suggestion, and it took the gas.
