if you bought the parts that we talked about, you would have still gotten the same results. And I was basing it off of my older steering column.

can these parts be had at a local shop like advanced or autozone?

I doubt that will have in stock. May could look them up and order them. But my experience, you've got to tell them what it is before they can look it up. I'd try my local GM dealer. Thinking this will probably be your best bet locally.

give the nib end you see(the nib has a little bit on the side to hold it in the green bit,the green tube has a slot in it) like a tailight bulb,lightly a slight turn ,maybe a slight push in too,it should come out,it should have a spring in there behind it pushing out...i've seen writting pen springs used there the push the contact out to hit the (top bare kinda rusty looking spot) metal on the button ,sand/scrape the contacts
