What inpsire you to tackle this? And beyond the alarm system (what type is it) are you're concerns?

looks like a very good idea and well thought out if all goes according to plan.

Keep us updated!
Thanks for all the comments, its final- this mod is going to stay....

I got the Gps alarm on ebay ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GPS-C...item3cb0b39ade ) I got the start/stop button on Ebay as well, (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OEM-1...item2a0b3c53db ). There are other far cheaper start buttons, but not alot of start /stop buttons, and I just had to have one in metallic silver finsh.

Right now I dont have any concerns, but I just woke up and took a Vicadian for my back (thats killing me from working on the truck) everything is real good right now . But later- I dont know..... I cant really forsee any problems, I have a total of three batterys, one main battery and 2 wheelchair batterys. I sat down and did real good drawing of how I want to wire it. Im putting in a whole new wiring harness in the truck right now so thats gonna make it alittle easier.

What inspired me... I really dont know, I just wanted this truck to have a very modern contempary look. Almost if GM redid this style of truck like they did with the new Camaro, Kinda a throw back to the 60's with modern electronics. I plan on giving this truck to my son when he gets old enough and I want to be able to know where he is at all the time...

I have alot of other neat plans for the truck now that Im back in the "putting it back together stage" that I will want feed back on also..

I think it looks pretty cool, seems to fit right in on a resto mod.

Re: Is this mod- cool or not cool?

Here's the one I have guys. I bought mine about a year ago. Not yet installed though, so when I saw this thread I was really enthused. My truck is on hold. So I never posted anything about it though and decided to install it into my Chevelle. I'm putting one into my truck as well. It is not a cheap system.

Re: Is this mod- cool or not cool?

I understand how it can work VIA gps but how does the remote start and locking work via cell phone? I know most smart phones utilize GPS but all other alarms I've looked at that utilize a similar technology do so via cell towers. I've looked at the Viper smartstart system for use with my iphone and it's cool and all, but if I happen to park in an area with bad cell service it renders the system useless for letting me know what's going on.

Assuming it's a carb, wouldn't it need a little pump on the accelerator first, before starting?

Re: Is this mod- cool or not cool?

The GPS alarm has a back up battery, but if the battery goes down just like any other car/truck- you get out the battery jumper cables......

I like it, it looks cool, but I think you need to replce the button cover and make an "EASY" button cover for it.

You mean the Typewriter? One thing about those was that the Park position was a lever. Been in a bunch of cars that belonged to friends who'd back up then hit the D button and leave some U-shaped rubber marks on the pavement. In fact, the marks looked like a fish hook.

That is just plain cool! I would really want to do this to my rig. Are you going to do a "build" thread?
